How vegetarian-friendly is your country?

Asking for myself so that I’m prepared if I ever visit your country lol.

I’m curious about things like: how many vegetarian dishes there are in your national cuisine, how often food is prepared with meat/poultry/seafood/etc., how much variety there is in ready-made food at supermarkets and convenience stores, how likely it would be to find something vegetarian to eat in the average restaurant, things like that.

Please mention the country you’re talking about!

(Vegetarian means eggs and dairy included for those who might be confusing it with veganism.)

Brazil is super friendly even for vegans

Awesome, because I’ve always wanted to go to Brazil.

not really diabetes is really common in the uk

Uhh sorry not sure what that has to do with vegetarianism? I’ve lived in the UK and I thought it was great though. Loved seeing egg and cress sandwiches at every convenience store ^^

All our national foods traditionally contain meat by-products so you won't be able to get the true experience. Nonetheless, vegetarian food is readily available.

Singapore-

Most of us are non-vegans but I'm sure you'll find a shop for vegetarians. If you wanna go to a vegetarian restaurant, you could just search it up. And we do sell vegetarian products in the supermarket it's easy to find

That’s great to know, thanks.

Oh, no it’s just a personal preference actually. And vegetarianism doesn’t contribute to or reduce the risk of diabetes as far as I know.

Canada. Really, there is no added hurdles to being a vegetarian, except when you want very specific foods.

belgium's probably a 8-9. there's a ton of vegetarian restaurants and the government (the flemish government at least) actively promotes vegetarianism

Oh wow that sounds great for vegetarians lol, thanks.

True, I’ve been to Ontario several times and I was always fine in terms of food tbh.

The united states is such a huge country, some parts are'nt vegan and vegetarian friendly and some parts are very vegan and vegetarian friendly (big cites usually).

Yeah you’re right...you can get multiethnic food, it just depends where you live. (I don’t live in America atm but I’m American and I was fine for the most part while I was there.)

France is vegetarian friendly! (vegan friendly as well) you're sure to find vegeterian dishes in a restaurant but also in bakeries (we buy sandwich there) they make a lot of vegetarian sandwiches these last few years + vegan salads/cakes ^^

I don't eat meat (not because I'm vegeterian, just because I don't like it) so I usually eat what my vegeterian sister eats when we eat out lol.

It's pretty easy to find vegetarian food in Sydney and the surrounding area. I mostly eat vegetarian when I'm out. Its easy to find spinach and feta filling options instead of meat, egg or cheese and tomato toasted sandwiches etc. Most restaurants, no matter the cuisine, have a few options.
