I wanted to buy a 4K TV but then i read that you have to sit really close to even see a difference.

What model & size do you own, how expensive was it // and what would you recommend?

If most of your content are 4k then go for it. My TV is HD as my local broadcast only support HD.

Same here. There isnt much content but i also dont want to buy an "outdated"? TV.

It all depends I have a 4K TV in my living room and 99.9% of actual content on Sky is 1080i. Blu Ray is only 1080p aswell as Netflix, with better internet speed you can get 2160p I think on it but I have never tried it as my max internet in my area is not fast enough to stream 4K.

As for YT the 2160p option is really really bad and I bought some 4k BR to take advantage of the Xbox 4K player and was let down by it. I don't have the Xbox X so I can't say how good gaming is on it. But I use my brothers PS4 Pro and the 4K is only checkerboard(which is not 2160p) But in games like Horizon you can see a big difference imho.

I also have a 2160p monitor for my PC and play games on it all the time and I would say personally the difference in PC games between 1080p/2160p is night and day. Esp' in games made for 4K. The Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider have a massive improvement over the 1080p version. But I suppose the issue is for some that the monitor cost £650 to buy atm.

With my modded fallout to have a lot of 2-8k textures/visual mods too and it looks amazing-it blows 1080p outta the water tbh even far away.

But if you don't game and can't stream 4K than I don't know if it's worth investing in as 1080p still looks great and 99.9% of all HD content isn't at a higher resolution than that right now. In games 4k looks great-but in video, movies, etc I would say the dif' is fairly small.

The only thing I would say is however is in a lot of stores in my country most 4K TVs are really well priced. I see good 4k/HDR TV's for the same prices as a lot of 1080p ones and they are good brands like SS, Sony, Lg, etc. So I would say have a look round shop for deals and check what actual content in 2160p is available to you before making the decision.

It depends on the size of the screen, so the smaller it is the more pointless is to buy a 4k over a 1080 display. For reference I'd say you would need something above like 32", or above, screen but I don't know what type of media you'll consume.

For most people 1080 should be enough and 4k screen would be better if you work/play on a computer rather than just watching netflix and youtube videos, but even then it's kind of expensive to fully take advantage of it as you'll need a beefy graphics card and very good broadband connection to stream in 4k.

What media do you have that's in native 4k?  I don't have netflix, but even that I hear has only a few titles in 4k.

Not not much but hopefully that changes in the future.
