I think sometimes it's hard not to associate the negative fandom with the group itself, since they are representing that group. Tbh it's not a good thing, I feel like we all forget we're dealing with human groups and that being so involved with the negatives can reflect badly on the idols we love. I could like their music, but nothing more. same although I know a few bad seeds in the fandom does not represent the group they like, it just leaves such a terrible impression that i can't bring myself to actively follow the group. When we have seen the negative side of a fandom it's hard to try and push it off with the positives, because in life the negatives outweigh the positives it's just how people see things. It's hard to try and be positive a certain group with such a negative experience with their fans, for example on OH who have the group in their badges, DP and sig etc. Sometimes that's why even trolls have negative effects on people because they associate the troll posting with the group as their set which makes it hard not to associate the group with that troll. I mostly listen to Japanese and American music, and only a couple of years ago did I get into fandom culture with ARMY and Once after falling in love with Bangtan and Twice. I know it's stupid, but I can't help the way my mind works and I know I'm far from being the only one. I won't hate a group because of rude fans, but I may keep my distance from certain groups.
