I'm fairly certain I have spent 80% of the time watching the first two episodes accidentally focusing on how attractive Hyun Bin, and Park Shin Hye are, and then needing to go skip back because my ass was not fully paying attention to what was going on.

Edit: I'm also super confused how they can just pop contacts in and out like that. Middle of a busy train station straight outta the pocket case? Sure, why not.

Ok, so I've been thinking much too long about the ending of episode 2, and reading everyone's theories on here. This is what I've got thus far, but I too am quite twisted around with this.

The biggest catalyst of this entire scene are those clouds rolling in, they're so abrupt, sinister, and wholly unnatural in their portrayal. It looks like a shift in game events where you pass into the end of a level, or are about to face a boss. Se Joo is in a sleeper cabin when we see him disappear in episode one after shots are fired, but his cabin mate sees and hears no trace of those shots or of him leaving; just his physical possessions not related to the game remain behind (whereas Hyun Bin is in a regular passenger seating car for the similar clouds/shots fired). Again those clouds roll in when Hyun Bin is on the train, and seeing them he knows that events are going to escalate and prepares himself, which is indicative to video games, but not real life scenarios per say.

The shots of Hyun Bin getting the gun out/ready in the train lavatory are very video game stylized. Especially the shot where the audience is shown the surroundings as if we're his character, and we look down to see the gun in our hand. The same with a lot of the shots incorporated into the shooting showdown on the train where it cuts to similar views where the events taking place are almost entirely focused on the action and weaponry. The glint on the enemy's blue eyes is otherworldly, and unnatural as well; just that hint of rendered graphics not quite meeting real life. Cues that something of this scenario is not embedded in the real world as we would know it.

When Hyun Bin's character says he predicted two things, but one came true, I think the one which came true is magic is in Alhambra. At some point they stop playing the game as characters logging in and out, and get pulled into some kind of reality where the game is real, and it isn't real at the same time. This is from the same writer as W, and if you've seen that drama I think it harks back to their previous play on two worlds; the reality of the everyday, and a created world that is beginning to take on a life of its own. Possibly something that can't be controlled anymore, because it's morphed beyond what it was created as. In W the creator of the secondary realm was also the first person to be pulled into it, and I think it's very similar with Se Joo being the first to see something going wrong with the elements he's created, which could also explain his hunted and nervous demeanor when he places the call in episode one.

I'm super interested to see where this drama goes from here, and how right or wrong all of our guesstimates are lol.

Honestly this drama is super enthralling. I was just going to watch one episode tonight, and then episodes 3 & 4 later, here I am.

Anyway, my thoughts on what these episodes might mean to the story line. I'm actually kind of shocked I wasn't totally out in left field with my predictions from episode 1 & 2 lol.

I mentioned last time that the clouds rolling in seemed to signal a shift where the characters could sense something ominous was coming. The thunderstorms, clouds, and rain are definitely now signalling the shift between reality, and the game, which now is starting of it's own accord. I definitely think it's that play on the duality of the two worlds I was toying with previously; the reality as we all know it, and the reality slowly being melded with the game environment. The fact that Se Joo (I believe he must have "killed" Marcos in testing the game) and Jin Woo are both being mindlessly hunted by virtual copies of real life people they killed in what should have just been the virtual plane, but whom died in real life as well, definitely signifies that where these two worlds overlap there is a way to escape back to reality. If the dead users truly only became NPC's the single minded pursuit for revenge in the scheme of a game using reality doesn't make sense, but it would if the only way for them to escape the virtual reality plane is to carry out a game mission/quest there...exact revenge on the one that killed them in their duel; since Hyun Seok seems focused solely on Jin Woo. Although this doesn't explain the disappearance of Se Joo who if he had been killed in revenge should have also left a body behind in reality as well, but only left a knapsack. Perhaps being killed by the user in the game they have previously bested in a duel means they get pulled into the game as a whole, and leave behind no trace. It's honestly a weird circle of events that I can't find an end to at this point since one conclusion just trips back to another opposite one.

Because the line between the two worlds is slowly blurring more and more I think the game/characters are starting to take control over the realities, and the users by being able to plunge specific players into the game at will. The first time Hyun Seok re-appeared Jin Woo saw the automated game message that an enemy had appeared, and because he was already in the game there was no thunderstorm precluding the appearance of Hyun Seok. When Hyun Seok appears in his room after the thunderstorm begins, Jin Woo never sees an enemy notice appear, even when he sees him standing in his doorway holding a sword. This again may be signalling the game changing and melding into reality where it's hard to decipher between the two at any given time, because you're no longer having to log in or out. The fact that Jin Woo sustained real life injuries from Hyun Seok alone, and not from any NPC up until this point I think points to the user vs user dueling system as the point in the game where the tear between the worlds is slowly opening, and where the plot of the game changes from a Spanish inquisition theme to a reality based one.
