what do you do when you see kids throwing tantrums in public?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this makes me a bad person but I swear I unconsciously roll my eyes, no matter your age I hate people being unnecessarily loud in public especially in places like cinemas and public transportation, so I know the kid doesn't know any better and that's why they're being annoying, but you as parent, can't you control your little beast? I swear no one is trying to see and listen your kid screaming at the top of their lungs, I don't tell the parents anything because whatever is your kid, you must know what you're doing with your parenting but I just try to move as far as I can from that scene and  if I can't I will just throw my biggest stank face, I can't control it, I just hate seeing stuff like that....

sometimes I wonder if I actually wanna have kids because as you can see I have zero patience

lol... as a aunt with 2 nephews 2 and under and 1 niece that is 4 (with many older ones as well) I shall answer the question: "you as parent, can't you control your little beast?" no, the child does not care where they are or if they are "disturbing" the peace and honestly it's a kid, kids cry and throw tantrums it's expected especially when it's around lunch, dinner or it's late lol

I don't say anything. The parents are probably embarrassed about their kids causing the commotion anyway.

yes let's drag a screaming kid through a store that will make EVERYTHING better and it's not like we were here to shop as well or anything you know but let me stop shopping so YOU can feel better about a kid crying lol

That's common courtesy, your kid is rolling around on the floor doing a damn scene and what do you do? you let it happen, i dont care that you have to shop too, take your kid outside when they calm down and stop crying you can go back, not everyone has to endure that because you decided you are okay with it, you can let it happen in your house, but in public? thats annoying, no one is telling to beat up the kid, just control the situation or leave your kids at home so you can shop all you want.

If your kid is being a nuisance then you most definitely should stop shopping or eating or whatever and do something about it. Frankly it shouldn't be the public's job to deal with your child's screaming and crying. The parents signed up for that, no one else did.

exactly, thats what annoys me the most, when parents ignore completely the tantrum and let the kid just cry it out, I understand that might work at home but it shouldn't be a method for when you're in public, we went to the restaurant to eat and relax, not to hear your kid crying because they don't like what they have to eat, no one is telling you to not take your kids to those places but you must teach them how to behave in public, kids aren't dumb if you explain to them why they're doing things wrong they will understand

Also studies have shown that letting kids 'cry it out' leads to negative psychological consequences, or no benefit when a tendency towards addressing the problem leads to benefits later in life.

So they're being bad parents not just in regards to the public, but also to their kid

good for you, I have seen it happen and I have seen worst from kids, like being in stores and throwing around stuff just because their mom didn't buy it for them, a tantrum is a tantrum

Well you are assuming literally all kids act in these extreme behaviors when upset when I have NEVER seen any kid act like that in a store which is why I responded in such

Seriously parents who excuse certain behavior because they're just kids and I should just deal with it annoy the hell out of me. These are the parents that will let their children run wild around a store then yell at the clerk if they hurt themselves. If they can't act decent in public then what are you even teaching them at home? And if you know you can't control them then don't take them out and disrupt everyone's day.

I can see it, the kid will grow up believing their parents don't care about them or completely ignore/ disregard their feelings.

it's best to just take them out somewhere outside so they can calm down a little and if they're in age where you can talk and explain things to them just tell them why they were on the wrong, honestly those excuses some parents give on why they're letting their kids act all bratty sound like lazy parenting to me and I don't care how you raise your kid but don't ruin my peace with your kid and your neglecting, keep it for you and your home.

they are the dumb ones because kids from age 4-10 understand that acts have consequences, when i was a kid I used to throw tantrums to get what I wanted and sometimes I did get it and sometimes I didn't because my parents would just stop me, they're very aware on what they're doing, teach your kids how to be respectful from young age so they don't turn into assholes who go around showing no manners
