How would you feel if your favorite idols behaved the way Japanese idols do when they're promoting in japan?

sexually suggestive gravure photo books, bikinis, cutesy chipmunk like vocals...ya know the usual jidol deal.

I don't think kpop idols really do much to try appeal to the Japanese tastes.

Isn't Kara a bit on that track as far as music goes, not so much the other stuff?

And female KPop idols appeal to a different fanbase than female Japanese idols. Korean idols are more empowered and contemporary while Japanese ones are more submissive and rooted in tradition.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

I wouldn't mind SNSD in bikinis since they're already 21+ in age, but i'm against them doing those sort of photobooks because I don't want them to be tied/connected to products that have minors (i.e. Momusu) posing suggestively in bikinis   :omgwtf:

Not all female idols in Japan is like that. I for one haven't seen bikini shots from Momoclo, Syachihoko, Ebichu, Babymetal or Tokyo Girls Style. As for the voice well there are also idols that doesn't have chipmunk voices but most do, what do people want then, for them to have vocal surgery or something?

A very gross generalization once again.

There are always exceptions to the rule but I'm talking about the majority.

I remember everybody made a huuuuge deal of Jaejoong's anan photoshoot  :har:

And then he ended up barely showing any skin  :troll:

I suppose the girls could always try trollin' like that  :ninja:

The only reason they don't do it is, because it would ruined their reputation in korea. Sometimes i get the feeling that if korean companies could put some real jailbaits or members dancing in bikinis like in japan they would do it. But netizens would come down on their ass so fast. So they restrained themselves at doing sexy concepts. But the idols in the industry is getting younger and younger i would not be suprised that in 5-10 yrs we start seeing kpop groups doing gravure\bikini type videos. K-companies are hungry and desperate they'll try anything.

I wouldn't mind them doing photobooks and stuff if they're of legal age.

Also, the reason a lot of J-idols have squeaky voices is because somehow, companies just love to specifically pick girls with these kinds of voices in Japan whenever they audition for an idol group or for their company to debut a new idol group... when in reality, there aren't that many girls who sound like that in Japan... Having that sort of voice is perfect for the J-idol industry and also for girls looking to land jobs as voice actresses in anime.
