I heard they're supposed to be coming back in September...is there any truth to it? (I doubt it.)

Their comeback is in january next year tho....prolly its about their audition result if its something in september...

Yes, if only ppl watch their recent live program (i forgot what its called) in japan, they mentioned the cb date would be in Jan~ there
