I don't really agree with that comment either but I guess they're speculating it since Onew was one of the few has been confirmed way earlier and being mediaplayed earlier but then ended not being in the musical at all. The ones who were confirmed late/later ended up in the poster and Onew is nowhere to be seen.

There are some sane, mature and calm Onew fans out there who think it could be his own decision.

Some fans speculated that SM probably has something else planned for the whole group (maybe Japan activities or adding more dates for the World Tour) since Jonghyun's midnight radio show just ended around the same time.
