ArticleFans of indie bands participate in #metoo "sexual harassment at after parties"

Source: Donga Ilbo via Nate

- Indie member A
Touched a fan in a private area while say he had aspermia so they wouldn't need to use condoms.
- Indie band's former manager B
Promised to buy a fan dinner and kept touching her chest and behind multiple times.
- Indie member C
Got a fan's number and called her to say, "I want to sleep with you, why won't you let me?"
- Indie member D
Invited a fan over to his house and told her, "I was sexually abused when I was younger so I've become addicted to sexual acts" before trying to sexually harass her.

1. [+252, -15] And yet they all act like they're better than everyone else for doing "real music"... ã…‹ã…‹ pathetic

2. [+177, -27] But does this fall under the category of #metoo? The purpose of #metoo is to expose the unfair relationships between a boss and his employee or a mentor and his student, positions where power can be abused and the women can't do anything in fear of backlash or losing her job. There's no relationship of power between a singer and his fan... can't you just report this stuff to the police? Why hold it in all this time and then try and ride on the #metoo movement?...

3. [+101, -21] I totally support #metoo but I don't understand this gaslighting stuff. Isn't that a gray area? To psychologically manipulate someone? People aren't mind controllers... you can't just comply with someone and then claim to be gaslighted. Sure, I get that some indie band members can approach you in a gross way, but if they thought something romantic was going on between you two and the woman suddenly claims she was being "gaslighted", how do you solve that? At what point is it a romantic relation and when does it become gaslighting?

4. [+13, -1] I seriously want to know who the guy claiming aspermia is ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ what a psycho, I just want to see what he looks like

5. [+11, -4] How is this #metoo at all, this is just alphabet play at this point ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

6. [+10, -3] Why do women continue to follow these men in knowing what's going to happen? Do you think your oppa won't be like that?

7. [+7, -1] Just release the names... there are a ton of bands who are going to be caught in the crosshairs of this

8. [+6, -2] A, B, C, D??? How is this #metoo?? So we can just go around claiming A this, D that???

9. [+5, -0] Most of this stuff, you can just decline anything further and leave... this has nothing to do with #metoo ã…‹ã…‹

10. [+4, -1] How is this #metoo ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ this is driving me crazy, please stop tainting the movement. Gaslighting? What a joke... Now women who voluntarily went over to a man's house is claiming that he "mind controlled her" into doing stuff with him ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ You're seriously trying to say that a man offering a woman something and the woman accepting it is the man "gaslighting" her ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ And honestly, why would you even go to an after party of an indie band??? Wasn't it to go and see them personally?....

i would disagree...using your status as someone this fan admires to coerce them into sexual acts directly relates to a screwed up power dynamic

Literally since when? It’s about showing how many women have dealt with sexual harassment and assault. An older movement with the same Me Too concept was about women of color facing sexual abuse. This person is just making shit up

Not at these netizens saying singers have no influence/power on fans when kfans be buying 2532453463 albums to get into fansigns. Of course they'd be flattered with a little extra attention and it's possible for singers to try to coerce them to doing things they don't want to do.

Can people not see that he lied to her to get her to feel sorry for him and absolve him of this responsibility because it's an 'addiction'?  The fact that he's lying about CHILD SEX ABUSE is enough to know that this guy is disgusting.

People are being obtuse. We all know how corrupt the Korean police force is and even crimes of violence and fraud don't get reported let alone crimes of sexual assult. And this 'explanation' of the #metoo movement is just stupid.

So have you heard of this crazy thing called rape, when a woman can't decline and leave! Wow!

This is person must  only leave their house to work and pay for sex

how does this not have to do with me too?? singers abusing their power to harass their fans... ofc people need to know their disgusting true identity like this, if it's really true. and whoever said it's only about boss and employee/teachers and mentors, where did you get this idea from?

few days back when there was a story about an idol(the one with kakaotalk messages) there weren't comments saying it wasn't 'me too'.  kind of a different reaction for indie singers.

and if people are assuming that it's because it was probably a romantic interaction and the girl is making use of the movement now...well how would you know? maybe it actually was harassment, maybe it wasn't. but comments like these might discourage victims who are trying to come out.

You can feel the #metoo movement is slowly derailing from it's purpose in South Korea compared at how it started.

The "fence rules" are the biggest proof of how derailed it got.

Yeah, I'm sure you're in a position to claim that, as a non korean speaker who relies on translated articles.

How do you know that he lied? You CAN be a victim of sexual abuse and you can still be an abuser
