something like 'an author added an unusual perspective''. or should I use develop or other verb?

Are they adding the perspective to something that exists, or are they adding it to themselves?

  • Likewise, Can I use ''parallel'' as a verb?

Parallelled is a fine verb!

parallel can already be used as a verb, meaning roughly, "to be in line with, or to be parallel to".

The road parallels the river.

Your thinking parallels mine with regard to this matter.

as far as "adding a perspective" - that's actually fine right there, or you could say "contributed an unusual perspective"
