Taeyeon: You must have had a hard time coming here because of the traffic. (fans were silent)

Taeyeon: Or you guys took the subway. (fans laughed)

 

Taeyeon: This place reminds me of AGIT concert I did back in the days.

Fans: Please hold it again!

Other Fans: No, not here! Go to the bigger place! (fans laughed)

Taeyeon: OK, let's settle for a birthday party here.

 

Taeyeon: I know some of you came here expecting crazy party atmosphere, but nowadays I'm not in such a mood so please understand.

 

Taeyeon: I debuted when I was 19, and now I'm..."

 

Fans shouted "Thirty!"

 

Taeyeon: Bingo! But let's count ages in western style. (fans laughed)

 

Taeyeon: When I was young, I felt 29, 30 year old person is like my big sister, brother, or even aunt. But now me being that age, I feel I'm still quite young. I still feel energetic. I'm adjusting to myself being 30.

 

Taeyeon: Since today is my birthday, my stylist made me wear this dress, looking like a birthday cake." (fans laughed)

 

Maybe it's because she hasn't had promotion or something fans related stuff after Christmas concert, Taeyeon seemed a bit nervous in the early part. When one fan shouted something, Taeyeon was like, "Thank you so much for saying something. I felt so awkward." We all laughed.

 

Fans asked Taeyeon if she brought Zero.

 

Taeyeon: Yes, I'm always with Zero wherever I go. I brought him here today.

 

After cake cutting, light was suddenly out, video message from Taeyeon's colleagues came out. First was Red Velvet. They said happy birthday to Taeyeon, wish her to stay healthy.

 

2nd message was from Kim Shinyoung. She also said happy birthday to Taeyeon, and made a finger heart sign for her.

 

3rd message was from Sunny. Fans screamed, obviously. Sunny recorded the message with quite a high voice, almost entering 'aegyo' territory. She laughed awkwardly during the message, but said happy birthday to Taeyeon. Sunny didn't forget to mention about SONE at the end.

 

4th message was from SHINee's Minho. Minho said happy birthday to Taeyeon, wished her to have a happy day, and also thanked her for always treating him well.

 

5th message was from Yuri. Yuri said she's gonna talk comfortably because it'll be shown to our fans, then suddenly changed her voice to aegyo tone while (jokingly) trolling Taeyeon for being 30. She said though Taeyeon is now 30, her face still looks like 3. Yuri also asked fans to make Taeyeon happy for her birthday, and said she wishes Taeyeon to be the happiest person in the world today.

 

6th message was from Hyoyeon. Her message was recorded inside the van. She asked fans if we have a great time with Taeyeon now. We answered yes, and right after that Hyoyeon was like, "Great.'. The timing was perfect as if she expected how we react, it was funny lol. Hyoyeon said happy birthday to Taeyeon, then told her they will hold a birthday party for her later.

 

7th message was from YoonA. YoonA said even though she's recording the message now, she would text Taeyeon right after clock hits 00:00 on her birthday anyway, like she did all the time. She wished us to have a great time with Taeyeon, and hopefully do the same on her birthday.

 

After watching YoonA's video message, Taeyeon said "Ah, there is our homestay part-timer." We all laughed.

 

Taeyeon: About birthday parties, the fact that I invite others to celebrate my birthday feels cheesy to me, ever since I was a kid. I don't have many memories of inviting friends for my birthdays.

 

Note: Part of the reason Taeyeon don't have many memories of inviting friends for her birthday might be the timing. South Korea's school semester starts in March, and her birthday is early March. Not enough time to get closer to many new friends.

 

Taeyeon: But recently I've changed a bit. Because of my birthday, many people have a chance to be together in one place, I think that's a good thing.

 

Taeyeon: Previous Taeyeon was like, 'Maybe I'm burdening other people by inviting them to my birthday', but recent Taeyeon is more like, 'I'm helping people making good memories for having people be together in one place thanks to my birthday.'

 

After cake cutting and all the talks, table with red cover came in and something was on it. They were eggs. According to Taeyeon, she prepared 30 eggs because it's her 30th birthday. She said she will decorate those eggs and give them to 30 selected fans.

 

One fan asked Taeyeon if those eggs are boiled. Taeyeon laughed, said they are all replicas.

 

Note: In South Korea, we call age 30 'a tray of eggs' because a tray of eggs consists of 30 eggs. She prepared 30 eggs because of that.

 

Taeyeon sat down, started to decorate 30 eggs.

 

Taeyeon: Do I have to use colored pencil for decoration?"

Fans: Your signature only should be fine.

Taeyeon: Ah, you mean my (bloody) decoration is not needed, so just sign them all?" (fans laughed)

 

Taeyeon started doing decorations and also signed the eggs, said "It feels like Easter."

 

Fans: You sign those eggs so well.

Taeyeon: Of course, I'm a signing bot. (fans laughed)

 

Fans: Have you ever had a cramp in your hands while doing a lot of signing?

Taeyeon: Umm that question makes me think you guys feel forced to ask me any question." (fans laughed)

 

Taeyeon: Recently I'm into light purple color. I did my finger nails & toe nails in light purple, even wore light purple blouse today.

 

Fans: Do you have any intention to be a part-timer for Hyori's Homestay?

Taeyeon: If they ask me, then I would, absolutely. In fact, I'm so ready for that. I can sit still without talking, I can do that very well." (fans laughed)

 

Fans were very curious about TaengooTV, and the first time it was mentioned, Taeyeon looked completely upset because she forgot her camera at home TT. We told her to just use her phone and she said, well I do have an iPhone X.

 

Fans asked Taeyeon about TaengooTV.

 

Taeyeon: OMG, I totally forgot about it. In fact, I thought I would bring it here and record things but I forgot it. How did I miss that?

Fans: It's OK.

Taeyeon: That sounded spirit-less. (fans laughed)

 

Fans asked Taeyeon if she dyed her hair.

 

Taeyeon: Yes, I did. You know my hair was black when I did Christmas concert, right? I felt bored recently, so I changed my hair color.

 

One fan said Taeyeon's hair reminds her of ITNW days.

 

Taeyeon: Oooh, I thought the same! When I looked at the mirror this morning, I...(then she stopped. We knew why she stopped so we laughed.) I didn't mean I look the same, I was talking about the style." (fans laughed)

 

Taeyeon: I think our culture is too sensitive about age. Often times we say 'Ah, I'm too old (for this)', but I don't think that's a good habit. In fact, I'm very excited about myself getting older.

 

Fans: Please hold a birthday party when you become 40.

Other Fans: Dinner show shall be nice. (fans laughed)

Taeyeon: Dinner show? Well, why not?" (fans screamed)

 

Taeyeon: I'm not good at multi-tasking. Since I'm signing and talking simultaneously, I might have put 2017 instead of 2018 on some eggs." (fans laughed)

 

Taeyeon: What did I eat today? I ate breakfast at home, then went to SM SUM Cafe later. Company prepared something for my birthday. I ate risotto, asparagus, etc.

 

Fans asked Taeyeon about her recent conditions.

 

Taeyeon: Well, I'm into light purple color, and...

Fans: You met Ttochi unnie!

Taeyeon: Ttochi unnie? How did you know it?

Fans: How can't we know it?

Taeyeon (laugh): That's right.

 

Fans: And you watched Coco with Yeri, right?

Taeyeon: Coco? with Yeri?

Fans: Yeri said so.

Taeyeon: Uh, I know I watched it but not sure if I watched it alone or with Yeri. Or did we watch the trailer together?" (fans laughed)

 

Taeyeon: I really liked Coco. I got hope after watching it. And you know I like skeleton style character." (fans laughed)

 

Fans: Did you find any movie which is scary enough for you?

Taeyeon: No, not yet. I think human being is the scariest thing. (fans laughed)

Taeyeon (jokingly): "Sounds like there's a bite in my words, right? (fans laughed)

 

During the egg signing, a fan asked Taeyeon if she was happy.

Taeyeon: Yes. Well actually to be honest with you guys, I am working on being happy.

 

Taeyeon is also taking Pilates class. She said that honestly, she's not putting all her effort into it... But it's more like a fight with herself. She hates going but forces herself to because she knows she has to (for her health).

 

While signing a green egg without a keychain ring, someone said that it looks like an avocado.

Taeyeon: I have been eating avocado every morning because it's nutritious. The taste? Umm kind of like a potato. 

 

The avocado egg had a drawing of a face with scars to represent a bad product (no keychain ring). And while drawing Taeyeon said because she hasn't been doing art lately her skills have dropped and now her drawings look like a primary school kid's work.

 

Fans: Do you like to being called as Zero's noona (sister) or mom?

 

Taeyeon: Of course noona. My mom is now called as Zero's mom. If I take mom status, then she will be called as granny, so..." (fans laughed)

 

Fans: Do you feel yourself being pretty?

Taeyeon: Nope.

Fans: Come on, be more honest!

Taeyeon: I really mean it.

Fans: Nobody is prettier than you!

Taeyeon (in serious voice): Sorry, but I cannot agree with you on that part.

 

Male Fan: Noona, how do I use this pencil?

 

Note: He was talking about eyeliner which was one of the gifts from Taeyeon's to every fan tonight. We laughed really really hard.

 

Taeyeon (laugh): "Wow, I think I just felt a culture shock." (fans laughed)

 

Taeyeon (jokingly): How do you use that pencil? Use pencil sharpener to grind it, then draw your face as if your face is a drawing paper. (laugh)

 

One fan asked Taeyeon if she's healthy.

 

Taeyeon: Hmm, that's a fresh question. I mean, not that we hope so, but we never know, we might get diseases at some point. So I'm always trying to stay healthy.

 

Taeyeon finished decorating 30 eggs, and started a draw. During the draw, fans were like, "Yoohoo~" then "Ah......" Somehow it made Taeyeon laugh.

 

Taeyeon: "Yoohoo~ Ah.... Yoohoo~ Ah....I might remember the sound even at home" (laugh)

 

During the draw, 'Lonely Night' came out and the 'throw all the memories away' part was on.

 

Taeyeon: Right now I'm making good memories for you, and yet this song says throw all the memories away. Even though it's my song...." (fans laughed)

 

Fan: Many fans love 'Fire'.

Taeyeon: Oh, I like it, too. Ah, I just remember Persona concert thanks to that. I don't know, but Persona feels kind of distant to me.

 

After draw was over, Q&A section followed.

 

Q1. Let me know how to do audition well?

Taeyeon (jokingly): Well, I don't know, since I passed it at one go...(then she shrugged) (fans screamed and laughed) Taeyeon: I sounded like a jerk, right? (fans laughed)

 

Q2. Don't you feel uncomfortable with your poverty zone hair?

 

Note: Poverty zone means front hair which is hard to decide whether to cut it or leave it to grow.

 

Taeyeon: It is uncomfortable, but I can't help it.

 

Q3. Among many great songs of yours, what is your favorite recently?

Taeyeon: To be honest, I'm focusing more on myself recently, I don't listen to music a lot.

 

Q4. Do you love me? I love you arghhhhh~

Taeyeon didn't say a thing and just put the paper aside. Fans laughed.

Taeyeon: I used to make a comment about this sort of thing in the past, but nowadays I can't,,,,," (laugh)

 

Q5. When you name Zero, did you consider any other names?

Taeyeon: Jack? But Jack is not an easy name to call in Korean.

 

While thinking of names for Zero, Taeyeon initially considered Jack but then decided it was too hard to call out because she liked adding -ah at the end of names. So she set up on Zero.

 

Q6. Can you sing for the rest of your life?

Taeyeon: Um, why not? (fans screamed)

 

Q7. Did you try the puzzle which was one of the official goods for your Christmas concert? The hair part is so tricky.

Taeyeon: Ah, I own one but I haven't tried it yet. If I do it, I might have to spend all day for it.

 

Q8. Which hair color you want to try the most?

Taeyeon: Well, I don't know. What color have I not tried yet?

 

Fans shouted "Light purple!"

 

Taeyeon: Light purple? Then I have to bleach my hair very hard. Oh wait, so you're like 'Whatever, cause that's not my hair', right? (fans laughed)

 

Q9. This year, 1st digit number of your age has changed. Do you feel your age now?

Taeyeon: Um, not really.

 

Q10. What is the most memorable birthday present or episode for you?

Taeyeon: Let's talk about the most recent one. Last year, I won the first place at music show on my birthday. That was memorable.

 

Taeyeon: And every birthday party was memorable. Especially the first Taeng Party (in 2015). I can even remember the dress I wore that day. It was a blue one, right?

 

Q11. Do you remember your 20th birthday?

Taeyeon: I don't think I remember it. Wait a second, I actually do. It was when we did 'Kissing You'. You remember it, too, right? (fans were not too confident)

Taeyeon: You better say you remember it. (fans laughed)

 

Q12, Are Zero and Ginger getting along well now?

Taeyeon: No. Mostly Zero is more gallant and Ginger avoids him.

 

Q13. What are three things you always bring when you have overseas schedule sans smartphone and passport?

Taeyeon: Well....(fan shouted "beauty!") What? Beauty? OMG, please. (fans laughed)"

 

Taeyeon: I usually bring neck cushion. (fans shouted "massage ball") How did you know that? Right. (fans shouted "Taengoo Cam") Yes, that's the one I take, too.

 

Q14. What is your favorite solo MV?

Taeyeon: I think I should pick 'I'. MV shooting was really tough. I had to climb a hill by truck, and it was very cold. But thanks to that, MV matched the song pretty well. I even did some acting."

 

Q15. Which genre you want to challenge next? (fans shouted a lot of genres, including trot, hip-hop, EDM, even heavy metal and pansori (Korean traditional music) lol)

Taeyeon: I watch High School Rapper. There are many good ones, it makes me become diffident.

 

Taeyeon: Sometimes, I empathize as if I'm one of the participants (fans laughed) but they are scary, way too strong. So I thought that field is not a great place for me to succeed." (laugh)

 

Q16. Do you have a plan to adopt another puppy after Zero? And why did you name him Zero?

Taeyeon: First, Zero was named after a dog which Jack raises. You know I love Jack. Second, no I don't have any plan to adopt another one, at least not now.

 

Q17. Do you have spring fever?

Taeyeon: Not particularly spring, but for every season.

 

Q18. Do you play any game now? Your philosophy about games (you have to spend some money to play games) hasn't changed yet? If you don't play any game now, I recommend Durango. Hyoyeon unnie reached max level at Durango.(fans laughed)

Taeyeon: In fact, I've tried it. But it feels I'm just touching the screen and there's not many things for me to do when playing the game. Anyway, congrats Hyoyeon on reaching max level. (fans laughed)

Next section was Taengoo TV - Taeng Party Limited Edition. Taeyeon showed us previously unreleased clip for birthday party participants.

 

Taeyeon: Which means, you're the only ones who can watch it.

 

Taengoo TV started, and Taeyeon appeared on the screen. She said today's mission is taking the subway with Zero, arriving at the destination. She came out with Zero, but the weather was freezing.

 

Taeyeon: They said today is the coldest day. How can I get to the station?" (slight pause)

Taeyeon: "Shall we give it up? (fans laughed)

 

On the way to the subway station, Taeyeon met a cat. Interestingly, every time Taeyeon called the cat, she/he answered meow. It's almost like the cat and Taeyeon could communicate each other lol

 

Taeyeon finally got to the station, but she had a problem buying a ticket. She pushed a button but couldn't process the next step, and when she prepared money, it was reset. She was like qkdjfkljlkjqlkj lol

 

Taeyeon finally bought a ticket, entered the gate, and took a subway. Since it was very late at night, not many people were there, so she didn't get caught by others.

 

 

Taeyeon arrived at the destination point, and got out of the train. However, she didn't get refund for her ticket because she didn't know how to do it.

 

After the video clip was over, fans told Taeyeon next time she should get refund for a ticket.

 

Taeyeon: Should I?

Fans: Yes, then you'll receive 500 won.

Taeyeon: Oh, really?

Fans: Where is your ticket now?

Taeyeon: I threw it away.

Fans: You paid (unnecessary) tax.

 

Taeyeon: To me, taking a subway is on my bucket list. I know you might laugh, but the last time I took it, I was a trainee. No, actually I took it when I shot ITNW album covers. That was my last time.

 

Manager brought Zero to the stage. He grew up quite a lot. According to Taeyeon, Zero got two skills. He understands 'sit down' and 'give me your hand'. However, Taeyeon had to say 'sit down' like 10 times to make him actually sit down once lol

 

Seeing Zero for the first time was also super cute!!!! He's so small and fluffy...he knows how to sit and shake. But while he obeys the sit command, he sits wherever he wants. 

 

Taeyeon was seriously the cutest though..... She had no make up, it was windy so red nose, rosey cheeks and messy hair, her fluffy puppy. She also went in couple wear with Zero.

 

Next section was Taengoo's taste(preference).

 

In this section, fans had to make a guess between two things which they think Taeyeon would prefer. If you guess it right, you can continue to participate. If not, you're done. For 8 fans (originally it was 5 but TY expanded the list) who survived would receive a gift from Taeyeon.

 

Q1. 'Hot' vs 'Cold'. Taeyeon's choice was 'Hot'.

 

 

Q2. Melo' ' Action'. Taeyeon's choice was 'Action'.

 

Q3. 'Wheat ttokbbokki (stir-fried rice cake)' vs 'Rice ttokbbokki'. Taeyeon's choice was Rice ttokbbokki.

 

Q4. 'Black' vs 'blonde'. Taeyeon's choice was blonde.

 

Q5. 'Gemini' vs 'UR'. Taeyeon's choice was 'UR'.

 

This one was quite surprising, because Taeyeon said 'Gemini' is the one she really loves. But she said, "You shouldn't guess it based on what I said in general. Important thing is how I feel today." So, today it was 'UR' > 'Gemini' for her.

 

Q6. 'Halloween' vs 'Christmas'. Taeyeon's choice was 'Halloween'.

 

Q7. 'Boomeok (pouring sauce)' vs 'Jjjikmeok (dipping sauce)'. Taeyeon's choice was Jjikmeok.

 

Q8. 'Listening to songs' vs 'Singing songs'. Taeyeon's choice was listening.

 

 

Q9. 'Ballad' vs 'Dance'. Taeyeon's choice was 'Dance'.

 

After Taeyeon picked 'Dance', one fan was like 'How can you disappoint us like that!' and we all laughed.

 

Q10. 'Candy' vs 'Chocolate'. Taeyeon's choice was 'Chocolate'.

 

Q11. 'I' vs 'Fine'. Taeyeon's choice was 'I'.

 

 

Q12. 'Sweet' vs 'Salty'. Taeyeon's choice was 'Sweet'.

 

Taeyeon said recently she's into sweet things, she had to visit a dental clinic because of decayed tooth.

 

Q13. 'English' vs 'Math'. Taeyeon's choice was 'English'.

 

One male fan shouted 'Please love math, too!'

Taeyeon:You must be a natural science student. (laugh) But it's more like math doesn't like me."

 

Q14. 'Jjajangmyun' vs 'Jjamppong'. Taeyeon's choice was 'Jjajangmyun'.

 

14th one was the last official question. However, Taeyeon ran some unofficial(?) ones, and one of them was 'Pretty' vs 'Cute'. Her choice was 'Cute'.

 

Survived fans were brought up to the stage. Each of them received a present from Taeyeon. Presents were Taeyeon's signed Christmas album and Banila Co's products. Also, everyone got a change to take a Polaroid photo with Taeyeon.

 

After that, Taeyeon sang the full version of  'Fine'. She said because she didn't hold a birthday party last year, she didn't have a chance to sing 'Fine' for us (at the birthday party). That's why she picked it.

 

Taeyeon (after singing 'Fine'): I was nervous since it's been a long time for me to sing.

 

Taeyeon introduced ttochi to the stage after singing 'Fine', and to be honest it was expected since there's a keyboard on the stage. (though Taeyeon said it was for a decoration purpose only, which was so lame lol)

 

Taeyeon sang 'I'm All Ears' with ttochi playing the keyboard. After the song, Taeyeon said, "Sojin(ttochi) unnie came here as a birthday present for me when she heard about my birthday party."

 

ttochi: Taeyeon is a woman with everything, so I didn't know which present I'd give her. That's why I came here, thinking this is the only thing I can give her.

 

Taeyeon: Sojin unnie is the one who gives me a lot of strength musically, and personally. She is such a sweet person.

 

According to Taeyeon, they prepared 'I'm All Ears' only, but ttochi thought it would be better for them to sing couple more for fans. She even brought some scores.

 

Fans shouted a lot of songs, but eventually 'UR', 'I Blame On You', and 'Secret' were selected. With ttochi's keyboard, Taeyeon sang short version of those songs.

 

 

Taeyeon: I feel like I'm serving a penalty on my birthday. (fans laughed)

 

She had to look at the lyrics for 'UR' and so on because she said she hasn't sang it since Persona. Halfway thru 'Secret', Taeyeon was like stop again again again!!  and repeated the chorus part until perfection.

 

Taeyeon: It wasn't a satisfactory performance by any means, and I'm a type of person who thinks about the unsatisfactory performance over and over at home, but I sang those songs for you.

 

ttochi: Taeyeon has the most fascinating voice among the ones that I know, and her voice could fill the stage even with a single instrument like this. I think we should do this sort of thing again in the future.

 

Taeyeon: I feel like I've shown everything to you as if another birthday won't come. (fans laughed)

 

While singing, Taeyeon kept saying she was very nervous. She also said she felt awkward right off the bat because the last time she's met fans like this was since her Christmas concert.

 

Taeyeon: Recently, I took a break and spent time healing myself. I think I've gained a lot and felt healed today thanks to you. I guess to me, you guys beat any medicine or doctor's prescription.

 

After photo time with fans, Taeyeon said goodbye to fans, and the party was officially over.

 

Notes:

 

Taeyeon looked so happy she could give many fans some presents today. Even her unplanned performance, we all know how she hates singing unprepared, but she did that for fans. It wasn't the best performance and she even made some mistakes but that's not important.

 

Glad I could be a part of it. I think she's still recovering from various things, and I hope she takes time and not rushing it. I can wait, and I believe other fans can, too.

 

I think the best gift Taeyeon gave us tonight was sincerity. The segments were not scripted, the songs were based on fan selective. But she put her whole heart into it. I hope today was as special to her as it was for her fans (: truly a gift.
