SF9 come back with Mamma Mia and Dawon had dreads

it caused quite an uproar among sf9 fans asking him to change his hair

one international fan went to a recent fansign and actually told him what's the real issue about his hairstyle. he initially thought that fans hated his hair because how it looks but boy was shocked to know that's not the reason

# the fan said cultural appropriation not appreciation above

he said he wants to change the hairstyle and he really did the day after the fansign but had to wear it few times more on their music show perfs

but finally he got rid of the hairstyle totally today by tweeting this

Dreadlocks look bad on pretty much anyone so i'm glad he got rid of it

Still, my opinion about cultural appropriation won't change

That's disrespectful, Dreadlocs are apart of someone's culture so please refrain from saying "it look bad/ugly" or anything in those lines.

Well, dreadlocks look bad on pretty much everyone, that's how i see it. I don't think i disrespect anyone's culture with that line. Like if the traditional clothes of, for example, my country or any other Asian's country looks bad on people, i would definitely say that person looks bad in it. Simple

I hope you realize how dumb that actually sounds.

That's disrespectful, In some culture that hairstyle is sacred. Comparing a (often semi permanent) hairstyle to a garment isn't the same thing.

hairstyles and clothes should not be considered cultural appropriation.

Some friends who are Bob Marley's fans did the dreadlocks bc they liked the man's hairstyle and respect him a lot, I see people wearing Chinese dresses when there are Chinese festivals in my country, once there was even a Japanese group who played samba in Japan, there wasn't an issue for them "stealing" sth that's from Brazil.

If a person is not disrespecting or mocking a culture, so what's the problem? Samba didn't become less Brazilian bc a group of Japanese guys was playing it in their country, in fact it helped to spread to Japan the music style.

Can someone also educate me why having dreads is offensive? I mean people style their hair that way everywhere in the world. I think my classmate wore something similar. I mean, it's not like they are doing it on purpose to mock someone.
I don't quite get the issue here.

So you're saying that a garment, which can hold as much culture and history in it somehow is not as sacred as a hair style?
