I’m a kpop fan of 10 year’s living in NY.

I started liking kpop when I was 13 and have been enjoying the genre ever since.

Over the years kpop fan culture has changed so much but one thing I've noticed has stayed the same....

Some people look down on me for being multifandom? (Multi-fandom: Stanning/liking more than 1 group at a time.)

For people who look down on me because I like a lot of groups...why?

How is it even possible to only listen to/ like one artist for your whole life when there’s so much good music out there?

According to Spotify, the average listener age for kpop in the United States is 24

Doesn’t this mean that many kpop fans in the US have been supporting their favorites for many years?

The first group I ever stanned was BIGBANG, then 2NE1.

When I started college I fell for Winner and GOT7 and now I’ve added Monsta X, Seventeen, KARD, NU’EST and so much more to that list.

Why is it that when I explain how many groups I like single group stans see me as not being loyal? I’m loyal once I like a group, I don’t leave the fandom regardless of scandal or popularity fluctuations.

And most of all I support the groups. I buy albums, I go to concerts, I watch their videos etc.

I never slander other groups and I just enjoy the music.

Please don’t look down on fans like me.

We have big hearts and we’re older so we have bigger wallets, no? lol

Regardless I will continue supporting my favs as well as the others I did not mention.

I hope they all succeed in 2018!

I’ve got one UB but I love listening to a lot of groups. But I don’t consider myself a multi-fandom. But I just hope others won’t look down on multi-fandom fans. They can stan whoever they want. Every person has different approach on liking or stanning a group.

I don't think so. I'm ten years in also. I don't have to have only one bias. I can share my love with many friends irl, why must I feel friendly towards only one Kpop group? I say Kara is my ultimate bias because they were my first love and introduction to Kpop, but many other groups have sustained my love over these years. I thank them all.

i think the difference is that as international fans its easier for us to be multfandom since we're not as exposed to kpop as korean fans who tend to only support one group are. i mean imagine how expensive being a multifandom fan must be if you're korean because of how much money you'd be spending on albums/merch/concerts etc. as international fans yes we may still buy those things but we don't have as many opportunities too therefore we can buy more than one groups merch if that makes sense

idk how much sense that all makes since i kinda just rambled on but what i'm trying to say is that even though many koreans actually like more than just one group it's hard and expensive to actually support multiple groups at once if you're going to all of their events etc so a lot of fans mainly just focus on one group because of that.

There's really no right answer to this question, as it all depends on the person.

I personally love a lot groups, probably to the point where I can call myself a part of many fandoms, but I draw the line at calling myself multiple fandom names. For example, although I love EXO and I support them just like how EXO-Ls do, I value loyalty a lot, and Block B is still my ultimate bias group, so I just consider myself a BBC (Block B fandom) that supports multiple groups. I don't call myself an EXO-L or Universe or NCTzen etc because at the end of the day I belong to Block B~

I thought I'd UB one group forever but you grow and discover newer, sometimes fresher groups and the group you UB just fade out over time. Don't get me wrong I still love them but they just aren't my #1 anymore.

Anyways sticking to one group/music genre ain't fun.

I've been multifandom since I've got into kpop and couldn't understand how some fans only support one. But then again their reason could just be like mine but viewed differently. Anyways I don't have an ultimate group anymore and I'm okay with that. As long as I'm enjoying and supporting the rest of them on the same level is enough for me.

Looooooooooool I'm too old for this. Ifans aren't buying albums anyway so relax.

Speak for yourself, I for example do indeed buy physical kpop albums and I know a lot of i-fans who do too.

Why the fuck do we have to be loyal to celebrities??? Who are they? Our family? Our friends? Our romantic partners? No, they are just strangers who provide us with entertainment and we pay for that entertainment.

are there people that only listen to one group? i've never seen anyone say they do that lol. even though i only stan bts i listen to many groups and western artists

anyway it's perfectly fine to be multi-fandom but i don't think most multi-fandom i-fans do support all the groups they stan because it can get expensive just supporting one group
