Black woman reacts to Red Velvet Wendy's controversial video

I've seen a lot of opinions flying all over the place on this matter. But sometimes, if you have distance from an issue, you can trivialise it. It's important for those (including myself) who aren't affected by these issues to not speak on behalf of those who are. To not be dismissive or spew our opinions on what's what everywhere. To just listen to those who are actually affected, to those who endure casual racism. It happened, and it offended people.

until now I'm still puzzled why that become a racist ? why people now so sensitive about every topic ?

Do not stereotype that option from one people is the same for all other people. Some black people are offended by it, some don't. When you stereotype that all black are offended by it, how are you better than Wendy?

if you're not black please refrain from telling people that "they shouldn't be offended". lmao. please just shut the fuck up.

sincerely,

a black person.

I wonder if she asked her Mum to make a commentary about the time Rapmon said the N word, apologised and then made a dark skin joke?

Probably not.

Anyways the ‘if you’re not black; don’t comment’ mentality is stupid. People are apparently just meant to sit pretty and obey whatever they’re told?

I’m listening to how you feel and why you feel that way. And I choose to find it stupid, petty and not care.

I hope she got her mum to react to all of Namjoon's comments as well :imstupid: anyway the mum is absolutely right and all of her points is basically what everyone is else is thinking

bringing up Namjoon's name won't change anything. Please, next time find better argument and stop dragging a man who reflected on himself and showed it through his actions. I don't remember Namjoon repeating his mistakes second time :)

There isn't any arguing I just said I hope she got her mum to react to stuff from her own bias group :) I'm curious to know her opinion on it.

same tbh.

I would like to see how her mom reacts when she founds out that she actually stans a group that learned from their mistakes and didn't repeat it twice unlike certain ones. :)

I know you have red rep, so I highly doubt it was not your intent to twist people's words and be an insufferable instigator, but I could've sworn black people never barred anyone from participating in the conversation. In fact, how can there even be an exchange of sentiments and values, to reach a common understanding, if only one party gets to join the dialogue?

Stop misrepresenting what black fans take issue with; it's really not that complicated--non-black fans do not and should not ever try to dictate how black people feel about perceived offenses, what they're offended by and how they decide to respond to it.

It's stupid and petty to do otherwise. Not that you actually care, since all that apparently matters to you is to attention whore for some red reputation points on an Internet forum.

every damn time your faves mess up, you all have to mention RM. Is he your punchbag or something? Does bringing up his name invalidate what your fave did and make it better? is mentioning RM how you excuse your faves from their problematic behavior? He was called out for his shit, but you know what, he actually owned up his mistakes and didn't repeat it. So what the fuck you fave did? call me when you all find out the answer and give this thread a read smile.png

I think it mostly comes from the fact that Wendy definitely interacted with a lot of black people back in Canada and America, and she most definitely should know that not every black person talks like that. About the white people accent too, it goes the same way.

What disturbed me was the fact she still ignored this and still continued to say it in a variety show as a sort of comedy. It also disturbs me how the other hosts have the same sense of humor and that mostly in Korea, the stereotypes are still evident.

The only defenses I can give Wendy is how back in her days in USA and Canada, her understanding of the culture and the people was still minimal given that most of her community are still Asians (this statement has no evidence whatsoever, except for her old pics and the fact that there are many immigrants in Canada), and #2, the fact that in Korea is still conservative and still unopen to topics of topics of stereotype, and that they will still laugh at these kinds of jokes. Maybe she took this to her advantage, ignoring the fact that is a way of stereotyping and that it is most definitely ignorant.

However we defend Wendy's side, I still believe that is a fault of her's. The only subjects for debating is her knowledge about stereotyping and culture.

I still love her tho, for her personality outshadow these.

People like you who are open to conversation are in the right of mind and are those who’d I’d be open to listen to.

With that said, the ‘if you’re not part of it; you have no say’ mindset exists and is very rampant. I’ve seen a lot of Twitter comments and even ones here barring people of other races from having any commentary because “they don’t know how it feels†and “their opinions don’t matter because it’s mot about/for them.â€
