It's effective for four years, can reduce periods, and i like that I don't have to remember to take it, and I also like that it only releases one hormone. I was thinking about the implant but I'm just....not comfortable with that, IDK. My requirements. I really would like a BC to stop or reduce my periods but it isn't a deal breaker if it doesn't. Nsfw 5,494 Posted March 7, 2018 Share Posted March 7, 2018 2 of my friends had the arm inserted ones and they bled nonstop for like 5 months straight. i've been on 2 different types of pill birth controls and they did a really good job lightening my period and clearing up acne but they also worsened my depression. i was going to get a copper iud because it had no hormones but im guessing you are doing it because of the bleeding aspect and not for pregnancy? Most of my acne was hormonal so it helped with that, I can't say I don't have acne though but I'm sure it's more because of my own genetics rather than anything. My weight is always the same. I'm probably going off it (last shot was my last one). Everyone who says you talk to a doctor is right, my sister tried the shot on my advice and she hated it. Every person is different. Now I have a hormonal IUD and it's fantastic. I get about 1 period per year and it's not nearly as bad as they used to be.
