What if some women/men start taking advantage of this #metoo movement to slander celebrities?

you don't personally have to believe all accusers yourself but publicly accusing them of being a liar without 100% proof that the claim is false is disgusting and is the reason why a lot of women are afraid to come forward and don't end up doing so until years later

i personally would not continue to support someone w abuse allegations that haven't been proven one way or the other because the idea of supporting a possible abuser is just not something i'd want to do having had bad experiences myself

But believing all accusations right away without any proof is completely normal? I'm not saying we should "publicly accuse them of being liars", I'm saying we should be more cautious about what we believe.

Yeah i'm sure it's gonna happen. That's why ppl shouldn't jump to conclusions unless there are enough proofs.

There's never enough proofs or ways to show someone was raped or harrased so it's a dumb mentality. It's easier for the accused to prove innocence even when they aren't innocent.

OP, the girl in Baekho case was outed as liar only by fans because I remember she had proofs of her going to therapy because of it but the issue died with peope thinking she was a liar because of some mistakes in dates.

i literally said you don't have to believe them as long as if you don't believe them you don't harass them about it

A dumb mentality is to believe everything you read. I'm pretty sure a lot of careers are going to be ruined because some sick people decided to lie about being raped/sexually harassed by someone.

Well sorry that i don't want to accuse anyone without legit proofs lol

Obviously i know that these cases are most of the time hard to prove. The dumb mentality is going around believing everything that's being said...

I'm pretty sure that has already happened multiple times. The problem is just that in most cases, there really is no way to tell who is telling the truth and who isn't

This. The standard of evidence is... no evidence. We're prosecuting people in the court of public opinion and destroying their lives based on an accusation alone. Often times without even a police report being filed first.

It applies also to people who believe what the one being accused said. People don't have careers ruined because of it: Baekho, Lee Minki, the dude in Return, Park Shihoo, KHJ and there's a lot more of them whose careers are fine. In a few years, you are going to see all the folks accused today acting as if it never happened so it's a pretty dumb argument.

I have said this before the movement started to become a big thing. I am honestly annoyed with this #MeToo movement because the fact that it pretty much has become a meme or a trend to do it just to fit in, so it has gotten to a point where you don't really know if a person is being honest or sincere. But in my opinion, if you WERE sexually assaulted, you wouldn't take it so "social-media-accepted" by adding a #MeToo, you would discuss it to your close friends and family and not look at it as some trend which the media has turned it into.

Anyway, I find funny how people now started to talk about not believing in everything... of course it's not because of an idol being suspected isn't? Most people didn't care about it when all these actors were being accused because it's actors not idols...

You guys can have your doubts and it's fine but it's just transparent how people are talking about these kind of things now.

BS. There are no repercussions for people who've been proven to have made a false allegation, legal or social, and the accepted reason is because "it would discourage actual victims from coming forward"

So you agree that rape is a terrible crime but see no problem with just anyone being able to be tagged as a rapist, without recourse, and carry that for the rest of their lives even if they didn't do it and there's no proof they did it?

Not everyone is a rich celebrity. People who live paycheck to paycheck are also getting fired from their jobs and made unemployable based on vague and unproven allegations of "sexual assault"

No due process = medieval witch hunt

why do people think that everyone who experiences trauma wants to keep it a secret??

i'm v open about my trauma and others are the same

coming forward publicly is a very selfless and brave thing to do as it raises awareness and encourages others to come forward too

i don't know about korea, but from studies on where i'm from, the actual amount of falsified rape cases is very little.

i don't think people lie about being raped that often

These studies are about ordinary people, not the ones accusing public figures

How would you know this? Most rape cases like 97% don’t end up in convictions so how would you fit a fact know which ones were true and which ones are falsified

true, but the repercussions for naming a famous person generally outweigh the benefits

i had to do a seminar on sexual assault -- i can't remember the exact statistics (i don't think there were any) but they gave several examples of falsified rape cases.

despite this because the stigma around rape and the general lack of knowledge about it, the general consensus was that rape cases weren't as falsified as one would think. at least not to the point that one should assume that any proclaimed victim is lying.

Where did I said that these people get punished? How it's bullshit? Haven't you seen how PYC victims were punished? Have you followed most of the cases were all the women end up being (mysteriously) the bad ones?

Don't put words on my mouth because I never said that, because we all know that the percentage in people being wronged about rape and the ones actually doing it it's pretty different. Again, who even said that?

We're not talking about non celebrities here but if you want to talk about it... did you knew that a good number of people getting fired over fake reports are POC? That the unjustified firings are made from people low-key racism and ignorance?

No, it's not the same.

Sorry I think my point did not come across well.

I meant that toward the people who are using it for the wrong reasons, to grab attention by adding a #MeToo and abusing what the movement is supposed to be about. I am very open with my trauma as well, but never did I feel the need to talk about it while using #MeToo just because it was a popular internet trend, and that's how I feel it has turned out to be. I don't know. I just feel like it has that whole "misunderstanding" trope as the ice bucket challenge did.
