I don't speak Korean (I can only read hangul script) but for any language you're never going to master it if you don't have the opportunity to use it in real life, speaking and writing/reading.

I've been "learning" Japanese online for many years (taught myself to read and write hiragana and katakana, knew some phrases and basic grammar, etc) but I've only made leaps and bounds with it in the last two since I started taking a casual adult learning class for it, because I actually get to speak it and use it, and because a native Japanese speaker can explain the nuances of it. because of that, it makes a lot more sense, is easier to get used to, and I become a lot more confident in it compared to just learning by myself.

maybe try Lang-8 in tandem with TalkToMeInKorean? and buy a workbook for you to use at home.

Lang-8 is a handy site where you can post blog entries and etc in the language you're trying to learn and native speakers will help you and correct you in return for info about the language you natively speak (presumably English). you could possibly meet a Korean penpal through it who can help you regularly in exchange for helping him/her.

my friends say you need to learn hangul first, then it's easy from there

however i've already learnt hangul and......... it's not "easy from there" lol

edit: like what the previous person said, you need somebody to talk to you regularly be it a person you know irl or online. thankfully i've got quite a few friends who speak korean proficiently haha

I agree with the other users.

you will only be able to get to a basic level by learning by yourself (hence why I haven't gone further). if you want to do really well then you're gonna have to dedicate yourself...

you may be able to find Korean friends online as well. if you have an android device, download 'Epenpals.'

a valuable dictionary for the future: http://endic.naver.com/?sLn=en

^it's a gem.

You can learn Hangul in a night, just through very simple memorization.

After that you can use like, Rosetta Stone like I did. It's nice but it's no substitute for a tutor and whatnot. If you'd like to give yourself a foundation for real classes then it's good. Just make sure if you want to speak it you do make it past that point. I can only read a decent amount and speak like a 5 year old. >.>

I think it's also worth noting that Korean is tonally an annoying language in comparison to 'Romantic' languages. So if you want to speak it you're going to need a lot of practice and help.

1 write simple sentences in past, future, present tenses to get you started

2 I recommend http://www.howtostudykorean.com/other-stuff/lesson-list/#unit1

you don't have to follow the lessons one by one, I jumped around lessons and before I knew it I already know most of them

3 use daum's or naver's dictionary

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/%EB%84%A4%EC%9D%B4%EB%B2%84-%EC%98%81%EC%96%B4%EC%82%AC%EC%A0%84-naver-english-di/jfibpeiddefellcfgnijpcpddoimbdij?hl=ko

this is an extension for chrome that will search in the naver dictionary when you highlight a word

4 use language exchange apps to make some korean friends, they are welcoming and kind ^^

5 if you like manga/manhwa there is naver and daum webtoons, I recommend http://webtoon.daum.net/webtoon/view/petermon

yea I guess that is all, Good luck í™”ì´íŒ…  :ahmagah:

Wow! Thank you for your effort... I'll try Lang-8.. Thank you once again..  :ilove:

Oh, I already know how to write Hangul.. Thank you anyways...

I'd say try and find an actual Korean teacher and take classes. Probably better than internet.

I don't have money to buy albums, so same with a teacher... Thank you anyways...

I'm also trying to learn. One of the methods I tried to help with my mandarin is to watch shows and listen to music. But when doing so, really try to listen and read the lyrcs. For shows maybe you can fake talk or listen to the conversations.

Oh yeah... Since then, I always watch Korean dramas.. Thank you for your answer.. :D

move to seoul. thats the best way to learn korean. ^^

TTMIK is a really good start and foundation to use before you start moving to other things

I already downloaded Epenpals.. Thank you for your cooperation.. ;D

i learn from KDARAMA & A-PIT-PET-KOREAN

I'll try it too.. Thank you.. ;D

i liked http://memrise.com back when i studied japanese, you can pick a big word list and it quizzes you every day and shows you what words you're weak at

find a way to make it interesting so it doesnt feel like a task, like translating your favorite song

Thank you... ;D

I say go find a Korean language teacher. It really helps. Also, looking for people who are fluent in speaking Korean to converse with would help. I say moving to Korea is the most effective.

Thank you.. ;D
