Could B.A.P have been what BTS became ?

If they were managed properly like Big Hit Entertainment?

For newer fans at the end of 2012 they were neck and neck with EXO. They had a really powerful debut with Warrior. A strong Hip Hop/hard dancing type style like BTS. A distinctive look ie the same dyed hair colour. They looked on track to be huge then TS Entertainment fucked everything up and the guys never really recovered.

You wonder what might have been with B.A.P.

We don't really know OP. I think Warrior was a too strong debut and then slowed down BTS had a slow debut and become more strong afterwards. Idk why they compare them

I think they would be better than are today that I sincerely believe as a BAP fan too.

with the right marketing, totally. they were so big at debut but then lost steam when TS didn't promote them for too long

i know people like to say BTS are big because they're special, and they are special, but that's not the bulk of the reason for their success. lots of groups are special but get nowhere. most of it comes down to incessant and clever marketing.

They had potential to be very big..I remember the days when they were neck to neck with Exo and early on BTS were compared to BAP (some said BTS were trying to be like BAP). However BTS have come a long way and are very big now..i dunno if BAP could have been as big. Maybe not but who knows.

who knows. ik a lot of people have said bap and bts are similar but the bap songs i've heard do not sound like bts songs imo. bts had songs + choreo + music videos that i'm not sure bap would have released regardless of their management and that can make a huge difference.

this isn't the first time i've seen someone ask this or just say that bap would've been as big (or bigger) if it wasn't for ts but i don't think it's that simple. there are many things that led to bts' current popularity

This topic comes around at least once every two weeks lol

The next one will be about how BTS "stole" BAP's fans?

I'm not a huge BAP fan tbh but Warrior came up in a playlist earlier and I was reminded of their monster debut and how many international fangirls they had here at one point. I'm not trying to start some BTS vs BAP ish just what could BAP have done with some decent smaller record label management behind them like BTS have  ?

In the end marketing is all that matters. So if they had the right marketing? Yeah, they would be huge, like any other groups out there. A lot of groups would be popular if their marketing strategy wasnt apparently made by a 3 yo.

marketing  alone with bad music or bad personality won't make the act last for too long

many factors must be put together,

this doesnt matter anymore, at least they are more free to do their own things right now, they are grown men, i feel like they got more free time to enjoy their personal life and plans, i think thats better than a suffocating/pressured life of being in a super popular group.

honestly when they debuted they felt like the Next Big Thing, but their marketing just couldn't keep up with their potential after a while

they have the whole 'self-producing' thing going for them and their powerful concept definitely resonated with western audiences

but could they have been as big as bts?

no one knows

because no one ever really predicted bts to blow up the way they did

It does. There's a lot people with shitty personalities making money and the headlines on news 24/7 + quality is extremely subjective, since people have different tastes

just to illustrate, yongguk often travels to japan with his other friends, daehyun visit more his family in busan, zelo is growing up in his family's house, the other 3 bought a new home for them live together, i think thats bettter than the situation they were before. they got individual activities, they are doing things in their own pace i guess. they may not be bigger than other groups or as before, but they are more free now. thats what i like to think...
