waffles8000 541
im applying to uni and one of the supplementaries is asking me to describe myself and my education (similarily to a resume). in hs, im in a specialized art program, but its not part of the title.. but im describing it...basically: " I am a student in the Specialized Enriched Visual Arts Program at ...." should specialized and enriched be capitalized? Meiqi's Maid 488
If it's the name of the programme then yes if not then no
GirlBye 27,959
as the user above stated, if it's the official name of the program (that's how it shows up on websites, paperwork etc...) capitalize it otherwise you don't need to
Velvet Queen 3,319
i just found this on google, hoepfully this sums it up for you Use capitals for proper nouns. In other words, capitalize the names of people, specific places, and things. For example: We don't capitalize the word "bridge" unless it starts a sentence, but we must capitalize Brooklyn Bridge because it is the name of a specific bridge. abra 40,910
Just looking at that line, I would either have them capitalized or not have them at all. "The specialized enriched Arts Program" just sounds like you're hyping up an Arts Program.
waffles8000 541
thank you everyone! i think i'll leave it in lowercase... also, if i want to say that other people's work inspires me, should i say like " I love experiencing others’ creative visions." should it be others' or other's? OhGosh! 1,855
thank you everyone! i think i'll leave it in lowercase... also, if i want to say that other people's work inspires me, should i say like " I love experiencing others’ creative visions." should it be others' or other's? Others' There's a trick for that. You cover up everything to the right of the apostrophe, and that shows you if the word is correct. Others' becomes others, which is correct because you're talking about multiple other people Other's becomes other, which would only be correct if you were talking about a single person

It seems a bit excessive if you use both adjectives. Another option would be to write something along the likes of "Arts Program at... ... specializing in...". If you can explain why it is specialized and enriched, then you can use it. But just putting them there at the start might seem like you're bragging or exaggerating.
