Only it's not accurate and you can make people sound great or terrible depending on how you do it. They just remove everything that's not in the frequency of a human voice, so backing tracks would still come through. You'd need access to the broadcast mix to pull the audio directly from their microphones to show this It sounds like they sang in a cavern or it was recorded with a really bad camera... It's because when you just use frequencies to isolate the human voice there are still going to be other things in the music (as well as echoes from the sound system) that fall in the same range and they'll carry over with the voices.
