Toshiyuki Kuroki and Yasuko Kuroki lived as dairy farmers from Miyazaki Prefecture in Japan and have been married for more than 60 years, raising two children together. They moved to a 3.3-square metre (3.95-square yard) dairy farm after they tied the knot in 1956, and hoped to take a trip around Japan upon their retirement, according to SoraNews24.But following 30 years of marriage, Mrs. Kuroki suddenly lost her eyesight due to severe complications with diabetes at the age of 52.

She became depressed and isolated herself from the outside world. Determined to bring a smile back to her face, Mr. Kuroki decided to fill the plot of land around their home with pink Shibazakura flowers, hoping the sweet smell would entice his wife to come outside and enjoy their beauty, as well as encourage people to keep her company.

After two years of creating the foundation for the flower garden, the private residence now attracts thousands of visitors who want to see the heartwarming love story that bloomed many years ago. Looking at this photo, we’re certain Mr. Kuroki accomplished his goal of making Mrs. Kuroki smile again. If you’re planning a trip to Japan, stop by the garden and visit the elderly couple to see what true love looks like
