Financial Aid Crisis

Recommended Posts

I just found recently im under financial aid suspension bc i withdrew two classes during the time i was dual enrolled! I didnt even know what the fuck was financial aid suspension, till i found out. I withdrew those classes when i was in the middle of my 11th grade year which was March bc i had SO MUCH work from my high school classes and the two classes i took in college. It was stressing me out and on top of that my grandmother died and my mom had to go out to the country.
For the fact i just found out all of this now is stressing me out and im graduating within one month. i know its my fault but i didnt know any of this. I mean even my high school counselors didnt even warn me about till the last damn minute -___- Im almost done with doing the appeal so the financial aid committee can approve it.
But all of this is stressing me out and i feel like crying my eyes!! :'(
I was thinking about taking a break for about 6 months only bc i want to raise money but, i dont know how to calm down since this is stressing me out

It's going to be ok.

No its not :(

It makes me wanna cry a damn river

i already applied to a bunch of scholarships i got denied twice but i did five more though

Appeal? Have patience and wait to see the outcome. If it doesn't turn out well, applying for other financial aid/scholarships/grants/loans or find a job.

It sucks though :(

You should take a short break after graduating hs, rushing right into college can be overwhelming. If you go on break, take the time to figure out how the college system works and what you should and shouldn't do and your schedule. But don't panic over this situation, you'll find a solution to it eventually!

where do you live?

because in ontario we have something called OSAP where the government gives us a student loan depending on our circumstances

(in extreme cases that can probably even sponsor the majority or even the entirety of your university tuition!)

just take it slow and remain calm.

you can do this!

Well that sucks but stressing yourself out isn't really going to help, there really isn't anything else you can do about it. Any more pressure on yourself doesn't really sound like a good idea since you might have more of it later if your appeal doesn't go as planned (hopefully this doesn't happen). Just take a mental note to not let things like this happen again and enjoy the rest of your school year

At this point, you have to deal with it emotionally. Consult someone close to you, an adult, counselor...someone who you can relief your stress and worries to. And then let it go. It seems hard now but later on it will be a thing of the past.

The best you can do now is prepare yourself financially in order to deal with the worst possible outcome.

How much money are we talking about here?

Well im going to a community college bc i wanna save money and not be in debt

Ive read that by doing full time for each year is around 11,000 so i dont think is that bad tbh lol

plus i plan on doing part time bc five classes is a bit too much for in a semester. Plus, if i take part time classes then i can work at the same time. Some of the scholarships ive applied are around $1,000 so thats not bad lol

dont even listen to them and just do your thing,

as long as you know what's going on with your life and what you want to happen with it,

you will be okay.

lol nono, that's a fallacy in logic (a "slippery slope" fallacy I believe).

if you're so stressed to the point as you've been describing, then you can consider taking a break.

of course, if you can, you should try and persevere, but there's nothing wrong in taking an alternative path!

You live in Florida? Usually state financial aid covers tuition depending on how much your family earns. Did you apply for fafsa in January? Find out about that. Colleges also allow you to work off part of your tuition debt.

The one for 2014-2015 was done in the first week of March of this year

Well i already did the FASFA for 2014-2015

and this is what it says about the deadline for 2014-2015

"To be considered for federal student aid for the 2014-2015 award year, you can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) between January 1, 2014 and midnight Central Time, June 30, 2015."

So i think im fine, i just havent received a report for it yet
