Asians of OH, how do you deal with online racism?

Ignore it. There’s nothing you can do if you see/face online racism tbh. Most of the time they just throw more racist comments at you if you reply

Thanks for giving me a response. I'll try that but it's hard when if you click on a page, all you see is racist things daily. This doesn't make things better to me if you ignore the problem though. I understand racists will become even more racist though.

I ignore it tbh. Sticks and stones can hurt my back but words will never hurt me. There are more important things in life to me such as earning enough to eat and support my livinghood. Why will I care about some mean words from peoples who mean nothing to me?

It depends on the person tbh. Most of the online racism I see are often from trolls who gets off on people’s attention and wrath. There’s no point “educating†them/fixing the problem if they are just being attention seeking. They are honestly just going to ruin your day if you try to communicate with them. But if you mean the comments that stems from the place of ignorance, then yeah you can correct them in a nice manner!

I just ignore it. If I respond then they will continue. They thrive on response since they enjoy the victim being triggered

I'm not Asian, but I am part of a minority that gets a lot of shit on the Internet. Sometimes, my fingers itch to respond but then I remind myself I don't have the time or the energy to argue with trolls and racists.

Just want some tips.

Edit: Wow, sarcastic responses here lol. Thanks guys. So racism's ok if it's directed towards Asians right? And this is an Asian entertainment website, lol. Fascinating.

Virtually all the responses here say to ignore the comments but I disagree. There's no need for you to make a point responding to racist posts, unless you want to engage with it for whichever reason, but I don't think just ignoring is a good idea. Report them, then wave your hand at them. Report them for whatever their post fits best with in the rule book: antagonizing, offensive language, disturbing the peace, etc.

I don't believe in the sentiment that it's possible to "choose to let words have no meaning/affecting power," which many are espousing here, and I think people should be ardent in fighting back, so I really suggest reporting the racist posts you see. This way you're also actively trying to help improve the atmosphere of this site. Community sites need help with moderating from everyone in order to keep the atmosphere pleasant.

Yours sounds like the most practical solution. I just ignore usually. But at some level I agree with you that just ignoring is not a good idea. I don't really believe in that sentiment as well.  I think people should be ardent in fighting back against racism as well.
