Bias in Figure Skating judging?

i mean i think the chinese judge was pretty fair, but even when i was looking at the chart of the judge's scoring, i thought judge 2 (usa) was being super hard on yuzu...

i mean, it's all subjective and i think in the end the results were well deserved so..

USA put Vincent Zhou above Yuzuru

China is hilarious tbh. Like they graded Boyang so high, it's ridiculous. But they are quite fair overall and just because she/he boosted Boyang, doesn't mean she/he downgrades everyone else (too harsh on Javier tho)

Can't say the same for Lorrie Parker of the US.

Yet, ISU will only investigate the Chinese judge. What double standard tbh.

I still don't understand why Olympics allow to judge the contestants from the same country, imo it's quite ridiculous, most people will be biased in an event like that. It's different from regular championships because they're about individuals but Olympics are all about countries and national prides, it really should be changed imo.

The US tried it with not only Yuzuru's score but Nathan's as well, lmao. That would have beaten the all-time record.

My favourite is part is that all of the other judges agreed that Nathan bested Yuzu by 3-10 points (except China but lol, if I were the Chinese judge I would give Boyang everything too just because) then there is USA who is like nah, Nathan was 30 points better.......

Stupid part is the Chinese judge is being investigated but the judge from the USA isn't.

Smh at the Chinese and American judge. American judge gave +180 for Adam Rippon (sorry, but he has no quads so he definitely should not have gotten +180) and Vincent has a better score than Yuzuru of all people. The Chinese judge scored Boyang Jin well above Yuzuru, Shoma AND Javier.

I've seen other judged sports in the Olympic Games and there are often some athletes that have the same nationality as one of the judges. It's hard to avoid having a judge with the same nationality if the judge who has the expertise to judge the sport is also from a country that produces a lot of athletes that excel in that sport. The lowest and highest scores are dropped for other judged sports and apparently for figure skating, they do the same thing. This helps to make things a bit more fair. Nevertheless, from what I've seen, figure skating has some of the most blatantly bias judges in the Olympic Games -- they don't even bother trying to hide the fact that they're underscoring and overscoring certain athletes by huge margins.

I’d like them to still sit on the judging panel but obstain from judging when the skater is from their own country. But that wouldn’t stop the under the table “you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours†deals from happening though. I don’t know what the solution is. But them getting rid of the anonymity of the scores is definitely a move in the right direction. Transparency is always better.

What do the red and green indicate??

Green means the element was executed correctly, red means not and yellow means the element is under review.
