I'm a big fan of AI Hashimoto since her debut movie Kokuhaku. I love her how among other bubbly cheerful teen-actresses, she stands out with a solemn, disinterested, contemplative and piercing look, not to mention she always carries herself with an air of mystery, coldness but maturity. Hopefully she will develop more as an excellent actress        .

She is not internationally well-known so maybe you can give her debut movie a try. Its name is Kokuhaku, or Confessions (2010), shortlisted for an Oscar nomination. She is a really solid actress from what I saw.

Just finished watching Kokuhaku. She's only 13/14 in that film, but she's really pretty. Why, life~

I love her character in that film (I think I need to watch it again to get better understanding of the story. :p)

 

And only found out that she played the character of Misaki Mei in the live action "Another" (from the 'horror' novel and anime of the same title). I've been meaning to watch the live action Another since forever, now I have more reason to do it; to see more of Ai.

 

Anyway, can't believe she's only 18 now. She looks like a real sweet girl. ^^
