Jeremy Lin demonstrated how to handle racial slurs on Twitter with so much respect, the Twitter troll cancels themselves out.

Lin saw the racist comment after posting on Twitter about NFL player Rob Gronkowski during Sunday’s Super Bowl. The user, who goes by the handle name @TerryForThree, called the 29-year-old athlete “chink†in his reply.

Lin replied with a respectful warning that Asians will not stand to be disrespected with the expectation that they wouldn’t fight back.

Lin’s fans on Twitter immediately sided with him. The user who sent the racial slur quickly deleted their initial post and deactivated their user profile. A Twitter fan page, PlayLineEmpire, also condemned the user and removed them from their page. The page immediately sent out a tweet to its followers saying that they are no longer associated with the user.

Many of Lin’s fans praised the athlete for the notable way he handled the situation. Lin has been targeted by racial slurs and discrimination in the past. Last year, the NBA star revealed past experiences with racism from rival teams while playing basketball at Harvard University.

The Asian American community in general has been a target in the past for robberies and hate crimes due to the stereotype that Asians avoid confrontation and aren’t likely to fight back. Things are unmistakably changing.

Mess why are you not censoring the c word :soul:

Racists think it's ok to use racial slurs to Chinese guys it seems. The user who posted that word wanted to hurt Jeremy Lin. He thought of the one racial slur he could use to attack Jeremy Lin. And that was it. He attacked his race. Why would he censor a word he wants to use to hurl racial abuse at his target?

In a way I'm kind of glad the user didn't censor the word. Because now Chinese people will know what racists like that really think. And people in general might be able to start to see and understand the racism Chinese Americans have to deal with if more things like this occurs. Microaggressive things like this.

The thing with that word is that it's used to demean and belittle Chinese people. Make them feel inferior or like their achievements aren't worth anything. It's coming from a place of insecurity, fear and lot of hate. Since Jeremy Lin is the first Chinese-American bb player to make it big in basketball, racists don't like that. Chinese aren't supposed to be good at sports you see. Only good at studying. Keeping their head down. But Jeremy Lin is not only good at basketball but he studied at Harvard and got excellent academics. Don't know if the guy who posted the chink comment knows this but meh.
