Just look for the common factor, usually it's multiplication or division. If the numbers are increasing exponentially like that, I usually just divide them to see if they all have the same answer. Like here: 12 divided by 4 = 3 36 divided by 12 = 3 108 divided by 36 = 3 Since division is the opposite of multiplication, by doing that we're finding out the term we'd need to multiply a number by to get the larger number. 4 times 3 = 12 12 times 3 = 36 36 times 3 = 108 (Also, bonus: if you get a number sequence like that that alternates between negative and positive number, then you're multiplying by a negative number.
