I always find it really obvious. Maybe I'm just hypersensitive to flirtation though, it always catches me off guard. I usually notice though that;

 

- they are staring. Not ogling, but staring

- they laugh at all your jokes

- they comment about your appearance and that you look nice

 

Edit: I also noticed consistently that guys always seem to start incessant teasing. Not harsh stuff, but they'll say things like oh wow I'm so much taller than you, you're such a shorty. They'll just start asserting their superiority/ manliness, but in a way that they think is endearing I suppose.
