Why should there be a stigma for fangirls liking ships and fan service?

Time again and again, I have witnessed others call fangirls delusional for digging shipping and homosexual fan service displayed by male idols. Yet its fine for guys to like lesbian innuendos? Girl on girl action?

For example, I find this hot.  Its my sexual preference. Why should it be justified for someone to call me a delusional fan for that? I don't think Exo members are gay nor do I believe they are in a relationship with each other. I have to admit I have felt discouraged to express that I support certain ships. If guys feel the freedom to watch lesbian porn openly, then I think reading fan fiction about gay idol ships is just as harmless.

preach. not a fangirl but I don't see whats wrong with them just finding it cute or whatever... it's the exact same as straight guys and lesbians

I might flip out the next time I see a person call someone delusional. Its ridiculous. The double standard reinforces that in society, what men like sets the standard which is wrong.

This doesn't even make any sense

because you don't even know if the same people hating on gay pairings are the ones fetishizing lesbian relationships

I only ever see people hating the really rabid fangirls who make life difficult for both idols

I believe the "delusional fangirl"  stigma stems more from how seriously some take the shipping thing rather then just the idea of shipping itself. It's one thing to like shipping, read fanfics & enjoy fanservice and another to aggressively proclaiming said ship is real wherever you go.

I am speaking from experience of what I have seen OH users do to each other. Not only that, I have been called delusional for liking gay ships. Do I seem rabid to you?

dude I never said you're rabid, what

people rightfully call some fangirls out because they send letter to their idols, genuienly believe they're in love, shout their names to the other people in public, embarrass them, etc etc

I dont care what you like....

agree with this some fangirls take it to far to the point that it might seem delusional. I think girls see these ships in a more romantic way than guys.

There are sane ship supporters who don't do anything of what you are describing. Yet I have seen people give them a hard time for liking ships and fan service in the first place.

Well you did kinda blamed me for fan girls being called delusional when I made a joke about me and Lay getting married. All I wanted was to show people how cute the kid was and how similar he was to Lay by making the post title interesting........aren't you kinda being hypocritical right now? I mean I agree with what you are saying about not liking it when people call fans who like ships and fan service delusional but just saying  :._.:  You kinda hurt my feelings with your comment

That thread turned into Regina vs a bunch of people who claimed exo members were gay. Thats why I called them delusional because they were set on believing something they have never witnessed in person.

Liking guy on guy action /=/ thinking a male idol is gay.

No I meant my own thread about the cute 3 year old kid who was dancing........you probably don't remember. It is okay I mean I understand what you are saying about how it is unfair to call a fangirl is delusional for liking a ship because I have tons of ships as well. I just wanted to get it out of my system I guess.. :._.:  Thanks for replying

Okay. Now I remember.

What.

You claimed you would have a baby with Lay. That has nothing to do with gay ships and fan service..... :donthinkso:

Im sorry if you felt bad by my comment but please reconsider because what you said because it was cringe-worthy and embarrassing.  :._.: It didn't seem like you were joking.  :donthinkso:

So I might be delulu but I swear if I had a baby with Exo's Lay it would be like this cutie pie. The baby's surname is Zhang and he loves to dance and when he laughs he has the cutest dimples. And most importantly he says that he dances to make people happy and at the end he asked if the audience was happy. I swear he is like the mini Lay.......watch the video and I swear it will make your day so much better~   :chu:

But you do realize that in my post I put IF I HAD A BABY WITH LAY IT WOULD BE LIKE THIS CUTIE PIE,I was talking about the dancing kid, and throughout the post I was describing how cute the baby is. I mean everyone has their own opinions but that was like my first few posts on onehallyu and I felt kinda offended that you were blaming me for fan girls being called delusional. And I am sorry but how is that any different from liking a gay ship and just having day dreams about being with one of my stans? Like both are something that me as a FAN GIRL likes to do in my free time, and like you say about fan fictions, isn't me talking about being with Lay like a situation in a fan fiction? In fact I do not find me liking Lay and thinking about having a future with him embarrassing because I know that it will not happen but it is fun to day dream about it. And if you found it embarrassing and cringe-worthy then I am sorry that my post made you feel that way.  :horror:

How is lesbian porn the same though? Idols aren't porn stars as far as I know and it's not like it's their main job or that all of them chose to do what they do because they wanted to be part of people's sexual fantasies.

Fangirls have a reputation and it is built based on those who are sticks in the mud. Thats not a good thing because it is usually girls who are extreme and delusional in their behavior. You can compare to the reputation exo fans have. Most people think exo fans are annoying and delusional because of the few who spend their time trolling, bashing other groups and acting ridiculous. Meanwhile the majority are reasonable and usually stick to artist threads.

When you make a thread like that...no wonder us fangirls are called delusional. (Now) I know you were joking. You even titled your thread title 'call me delulu...' You gave others a reason and opened yourself to others calling you delulu. You didn't explicitly say in your first post that you were joking. A fan expressing those thoughts about having a baby with an idol seems a bit crazy.

Im calling out people who call us fangirls delusional for liking men on men action and comparing that to men openly expressing that they like female idols giving lesbian fan service or wishing they would. Having a sexual preference is not delusional whereas what you said was delusional regardless of if you meant it or not.

Honestly it's a mix of things. Usually the ones who are called out are very vocal about it in a way where it can be annoying. If someone doesn't agree with their ship things get real fast. I think it also has to do with a certain stigma held against homosexuality. Now some, not all but some, fans without realizing probably get really offended or annoyed if it is implied *insert idol here* is gay. Even the ones who have same sex ships will get riled up and feel their idol is being insulted, so I think that may be part of the reason too. Not for everyone, but I've seen it a lot amongst kpop fans. Then there are those who just don't vibe with it period, gay or straight.

Not gonna lie, it is really late and I am tired so I didn't really read this whole thing but I am just gonna say that I was kinda sad when you blamed me for fan girls being called delusional but I guess thanks for letting me know that what I post are taken very seriously online. I will keep that in mind the next I post something so I won't embarrass Exo fan girls. And I also apologize for possibly degrading Exo fans reputation. Sorry and Good Night.
