Top biller actors/actresses like Tilda Swinton and ScarJo are included. .. (  , hey I actually like Tilda Swinton, but ever since her comment about not playing a role about the Ancient Ones and about Asians.)

 

 

 

Tilda Swinton's quote about backlash on her role as Ancient Ones. And now she's playing a role with ScarJo. Another accused of whitewashing. 

 

“There was a moment, I think, when a couple of other films, ‘Ghost in the Shell’ and ‘The Great Wall,’ were announced when people became absolutely righteously and rightfully very motivated to speak out about what they thought about whitewashing,†Swinton told IndieWire. “We got kinda pulled into that, people not necessarily knowing what the thought processes were on ‘Doctor Strange.’ â€

My thoughts about this... There's a scene in the trailer where a dog said "somebody speaks his language," after the main character Atari Kobayashi, said something in Japanese. Now, it could be because they're dogs and dogs can't speak human language, but the dogs have been living in Japan so they should have understood a bit what the kid is saying. I don't know really. I think this might bomb the theaters. Clearly they're in promotion stages since I saw this as an ad while watching something in YouTube.

Well a lot of top billers always appear in Wes' films. Bill Murray and Edward Norton are both in this, and were in Grand Budapest Hotel, and Moonrise Kingdom. Tilda Swinton starred in Grand Budapest and Moonrise too, and Owen Wilson was in Grand Budapest.

 

There are just loads of famous actors that Wes loves to use, and who love to be in his works, because every Anderson film is its own art piece. These aren't just films to him. They're parts of him. It's personal. Intimate.

And that's why I can't get upset at the casting too much.

My only question is, are Scarlett and Tilda voicing Japanese people? If not then lay off Wes. If so then I can see why people are upset.

 

Edit: Side-eyeing that Fantastic Mr. Fox comment though. It's a movie about woodland creatures.....

If I remember well the main character in the Grand Budapest Hotel is a Latino actor. With that being said, it's true his movies have mostly white actors in it

Disney have been casting white people to voice their minority's characters but no one seems to have a problem with it lol like the entire cast of Mulan exception of the leads were all voiced by non Asian people and the same with their studio ghibli dubbed movies.
