i have no knowledge or experience with foundation/concealer so was hoping someone could give me some suggestions

i bought the fenty foundation since everyone has been talking about it but it does not work for me at all

i think it actually made my skin look worse

i dont really have any issues with my skin, but would like to look presentable for an internship im starting

i have really dry skin and the problem with the fenty foundation was that it would crease and bring out all my imperfections

it's also a bit too matte

any suggestions would be appreciated

Personally, I use Missha's Near Skin Simple Therapy Essence Lotion before applying things that are too drying for my skin. Maybe try using a moisturizer before applying your foundation. If it's still too drying, I'd go for a setting spray that keeps your skin moist.

there are definitely foundations/bb creams out there that are super drying but what i've found is that moisturizing/skincare and actually how you're applying the foundation makes a HUGE difference

i have combination skin but i definitely have issues with dry patches. i always exfoliate to get rid of any flakiness that may occur, and of course moisturize. sometimes, if i know i'm going somewhere the next day and want to put on a full face of makeup i'll make sure to use some extra moisturization the night before (i use aquaphor) and i'll also use a primer before applying makeup

and lastly, i found that applying my bb cream with a damp beauty sponge using a patting motion as opposed to rubbing works best to not upset the skin.

you need to moisturize or prime before putting on foundation whether u have oily or dry skin (especially if you have dry skin)

when my skin's dry I use maybelline's dream satin foundation or nars' luminous weightless one

My skin's too dry for foundation in the winter, but the rest of the year I use Revlon Colorstay.

I do wear concealer all year round tho and atm I like the Maybelline Age rewind/Fit Me

(I'm cheap lol)

Definitely focus on moisturizing your skin, though. Sometimes when I wear foundation I'll put on 2-3 layers of it

for concealer I use a Nars one (I forgot the exact name) and for foundation I use a Laura Mercier mineral powder, however I make sure to spray with Clinique's MoistureSurge after I apply my foundation. That it the only way I am able to make foundation not make my skin look dry and flakey.

First of all, if you don't moisturize twice a day, start like now.

Fenty beauty is pretty matte so it wouldn't work on you. You need to go for a hydrating foundation with a satin to radiant finish, and use a hydrating primer.

For primer: L'Oreal Lumi or the Elf blue primer drugstore, TooFaced Hangover Fx, Laura Mercier primer, and the Smashbox hydrating primer at mid-range, or YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer, Hourglass Mineral Veil, for high-end.

Foundation: You said you had imperfections so I'm assuming you want fuller coverage.

Drugstore: L'Oreal Pro Glow, Revlon Colorstay for Dry/Normal

Mid-range: Clinique Even Better Glow Light Reflecting, Tarte Rainforest of The Sea, Shiseido Radiant Lifting

High-End: Armani Luminous Silk, YSL's entire Touche Eclat line, mix some Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer with moisturiser.

Avoid: The Amazonian Clays, the Lock-its, the Teint Idols, the Fix Fluids... those are for us oil-rig faced people.

Tip: Try mixing the Fenty with a tiny bit of facial oil. It works amazing for my dry patches.
