The manga is so slow, I dropped it a year, came back and nothing had happened...

in the story there is a less focus on romance and more focus on trying to become and actress and dealing with her feelings. lol.

the last couple of chapeters have been dragging.

I really enjoyed the premise as well as the detail Nakamura has put into the characters, but I've been reading this thing on and off for 6 years and I do agree that it's going at a snail's pace for the past two years. So much potential smh

At least her drawing style is getting fresher.

Only the last.

Though let's be honest, she's barely an accomplishe actress and really now, dealing with her feelings? When was the last time she did that? Her revelation that she likes Ren is like the only noteworthy thing that has happened in 200 chapters.

she is doing alright but they havent showed the result of dark moon and box r dramas on her fame. career but i agree that for a manga thats has been going for 10 years there hasent been much progress to refect it. lol all she has been doing is trying to deal with her feeling within herself, regarding love and work forever. the end of heel sibling arch.

I want Ren to get the Lotus in the Mud samurai role that he rejected back. 'Cause I want Samurai Ren x Ninja Kyoko.

Not gonna happen but it would be so awesome... rlytearpls.png

Also this described the chapter pretty well IMO:

Kyoko was able to overcome the producer’s prejudices and how Kyoko didn’t fit the image at all and still was still able to convince him with her acting, but Kanae couldn’t. That has to hurt. (c)

Chapter 257: Mega | Imugr

Ren being grumpy and absentminded is cute. I guess he's expecting Kyoko to come back to the agency after the audition?
Could Kijima-kun be out hope in making those two into a couple finally? I could see him doing something just for the fun of it. hurrplz.png

I'm surprised that 2ko and her manager are being so nonchalant about it. Trying to murder her in the middle of the day in a public place. The whole thing just looks plain crazy to me.

So how will Kyoko get over it? Herself? Yashiro? Erika's henchmen? Moko?

Wtf! Oh so that’s what happened to the wheelchaired girl. Man I hope she gets jail time.

FINALLY I AM NOT ALOOONE here! warstarplz.png

Yea, they basically threw her under a passing car. They're such a mess. Hope they get caught.

I think it's likely that Kyoko will either save herself or Erika's henchmen will. Or maybe a combination of both.

Also will this assault and Sho's kiss finally motivate Ren to make a move?

Ugh I’m hoping Ren does. He maybe talented in acting and charming man himself, he really needs to toughen up and ask Kyoko our. Yes, she’s 16/17 but mature for her age and very focus on her goal. And very much starting to fall for Ren. I wanna see Ren woo Kyoko with his all might. Edited by blank_stare

Interestingly, we all think that it's Ren wooing Kyoko (or at least confessing or telling her that he's Corn, etc.) thing, but for Ren it might be getting rid of Sho thing. He really doesn't seem to think that he has much chances there + all the age and public opinion that don't matter that much, but still matter to him. When Kijima was wooing her it didn't occur to Ren to just go after Kyoko, he went after Kijima instead. That turn of events would be not what we want, but still exciting. Sho isn't Kijima though, I very much doubt he could be persuaded by any means at all. So I wonder if Ren is aware of that.

So I've also been wondering if maybe 2ko and Kyoko's misconception that she is the one that Ren is in love with might push Kyoko a bit instead.

What do you think?

Chapter 258: RAW

Summary

More details and correction from /u/Vampirecat1:

The original spoiler post was updated and formatted. And the guy 2ko is interested in is now written as "Cedric D. Bennett." The scene ends with Erika telling 2ko that Erika giving the go-ahead to upload the recordings depends on 2ko's answer. Then there's a scene switch to Ren.

So when Yashiro disputed 2ko's excuse and said he'll ask Kyouko, 2ko's side argues Yashiro has no proof, so it will boil down to opposing claims. Kyouko recovers, gets her strength back. They think there's no proof, and that's when Erika shows up with proof. Apparently she already has someone in front of a PC, ready to upload the files. Oh, it's not clear what Erika wants 2ko to decide right there and then, because the scene immediately switches over to Ren and co.

At Ren's side Someone's proposing to open something (since Kijima proposed they go for drinks, I'd guess the something is a bottle of wine or liquor). Apparently Ren's treat will make them even. Someone (who apparently muscled in on the drinking session) asks if Ren will cover even their share too. It seems that Ren says it's to reciprocate for something, but not Valentine's, and that someone thinks they can't get a return gift (White Day gift), since it's probably too late for that. Someone says they're not used to being treated by a younger person (Ren). Someone asks if it's okay, whether there's a person who might misunderstand if Ren has all these beautiful women around him. Ren seems to be absent-minded, like his heart isn't there and he's full of openings. And, yeah, while his guard is down (not paying attention), a sexy actress locks in on him and kisses him.

So it seems 2ko's pinky ring still hasn't been explained.

From @recycledhappiness
I got the chapter!!!
Yashiro finds Kyoko's headband fallen in the hallway and becomes worried
2ko and her manger pause while throwing kyoko over the ledge and start to panic because they see camera flashes
This gives Yashiro enough time to swoop in and ask them what they are doing
2ko and manger quickly drop kyoko and take off her blindfold and ACT INNOCENT

I believe this was spoiled but they say kyoko didnt feel well and so they took her outside to get fresh air. They continue the excuse by saying that once they got outside her condition worsened and so they were going to bring her home, but since Yashiro is here he can do it.

Yashiro then says but to him it seemed like they were going to throw her.
I live in Japan
I bought it
2ko starts crying because of yashiro's "accusation"
"Why do you think I would do such a scary thing"
"I didn't have that intension at all"
"Yashiro you must really hate me" (as said by previous spoilers)
Then 2ko's manger chimes in with "it must be that"

she then says something that I dont really understand, but seems from what I understand to be about the love affair (or lack of a love affair) that ren and 2ko had and that is why yashiro is blaming 2ko. Yashiro is shocked by their excuses.
Yashiro thinks that this affair is not at all effected by the past events and now everything is annoying (XD)
(Skipping conversation and specifics) going back to the revealed spoilers yashiro says it will all be revealed when kyoko says something
he then thinks that kyoko hasnt said anything against what 2ko is saying
then 2ko asks how yashiro will prove anything happened

Erika pops up and is like Proof? hoe I got that (not a direct translation)
before erika pops up kyoko is worried about something because her body is getting better. Maybe because everyone is stalling so the medicine is leaving her body
Everyone is shook at Erika

2ko no longer looks cute and innocent and Erika is like "oh do you remember me"

2ko (or her manger) is like "why are you here" and erika is like "I was following you"
Erika's line might be like 100 percent wrong here. The kanji reading and the kanji reading in the book are differnt so ooops尾行
tsuke vs bikou
but based on the next line I think im right
Erika explains she has been tailing them since the cafe
and says "I thought you might do it again"

and then is like because all of this "I have proof that has caught you in the act"
I skipped a line because my japanese is only N4 getting ready for N3 level
and I dont want anyone coming after my dumb ass for my shitty translation
2ko and manager are like "so that was you taking those pictures". (btw the art degrades here a lot especially on the manager. I swear sensei is like I hate you hoes)
OH FUCK
Erika is like "yes if I just had these pictures that would be all, BUT DID YOU THINK THAT WAS ALL I HAD"
like everything would be over if thats all I had
the evidence wouldnt be enough
(this isnt even my final form)
SHE WAS RECORDING FROM 5 ANGLES
and im going to assume everything here is what we already know. Erika has it on her computer and they are going to upload it

and 2kos precious boyfriend will se it and become disillusioned
his name is Edric D. Bennet. Kyoto seems to react to this name. if Erkia says "go" everything will be posted, but 2ko's answer will decide if erika posts it
erika wants 2ko's answer now

2ko only gets angry when the guy she likes is mentioned
After the talk about deciding WE SWITCH TO REN

Kyoko has not said ANYTHING
and only seems to be getting back to herself right towards the end
when they start talking about the guy 2ko likes
IE NOT REN

So Ren his new boy (Kijima? help) and MATURE (key word for recent conversation) woman are all together at a classy af looking bar/lounge

so kijima is like isnt it time for you to open up ren
and ren is like bye I`m out. More like can I pay my part and bounce
and ren is back to his normal composed self
kijima is like "What?! Really?! Tsugura san are you mad?"

the lady is like "Nooo. You are going to pay for my poriton too? I just wedged myself into your conversation. So I`ll pay for my part" Ren is like "let me pay you back" (omfg is this where I think its going) and the lady is like "your not paying me back for valentines day" Kijima is like O_O. The lasy contines "This year for valentines day I didn't get anything back from you" ren is like "this year I got a lot sooo unfortunately"
WE GET NO CONTEXT FOR HOW THE KISS HAPPENED
we get kajima's thoughts about the situation as the lady walks away from him (ren already left) and after their short convo. We jump to ren getting kissed lol

Ren looks like he was going to hug her or something though cause he has one arm around her
like on her back
maybe he was going to walk her out
kijima is done with ren, valetines day, and this woman

Just finished reading the last chapter. Hmmm. Interesting where this chapter is going. Ren's definitely going to get rid of Kyoko, but it'll be harder since that woman kissed Ren in the last chapter. Lol, now both Kyoko and Ren have a kissing scandal. Great.

You might be right about Ren not wooing Kyoko after all. Dude's got a lot of issues too like Kyoko. Especially his past.

Sho might be more tough to handle and get rid of than Kijima, but I can see Ren succeeding. Especially if Kyoko is starting to open up to other people.

As for the last chapter, damn good on Yashiro and wheelchaired girl (lol, forgot her name already,) for showing up. I'm loving the wheelchaired girl.

How do you think Ren would approach Sho then? And what would it take for Sho to back down?

Yes I meant Sho, lol, it was beyond midnight when I commented. I think Ren would try to buddy it up with Sho first then will try to gaslight him into disliking Kyoko by doing what he do best, bragging about how many women he has and blablabla. (ok he doesn't really brag, but you know mentions few stuff here and there to get sho riled up.) and then when that don't work, cuz you know back to love triangle, he'll probably try to claim kyoko and say he likes her so he might go full on Cain since that part of him still exist.

Bwahahahaha! I love that plan. Outsho Sho.

I'd looove to see Ren befriending Sho. That would be hilarious.

Chapter 259

Vampirecat's summary:

Let's see... The bill is calculated. The woman insists on paying for her own drinks, despite Ren's protests. She explains that she can't accept his treat on top of extorting a Valentine's return gift from him. He says he doesn't mind, but she persists. So Ren says he'll see her off until she gets a cab. After that, it seems there's a scene switch. Someone (probably Erika's henchman) calls Sakazaki. Apparently they got a promise from 2ko that she'll quit showbiz. There's an argument about the height (it's around 10 stories high). Someone says it's not so high that you'll die if you fall; someone else argues otherwise if you land badly. Someone (maybe Yashiro) criticizes Erika's method, but Kyouko apparently admits it's effective. Erika apparently said that it would have been more effective if Kyouko had really fallen. However, it seems the video cameras for evidence didn't need additional light, so the camera flashes were deliberately used to draw 2ko's attention and buy time to let Yashiro arrive. Kyouko guesses that Erika did it that way because if Kyouko had gotten badly injured, 2ko would automatically get the role. Yashiro adds that 2ko had withdrawn from the audition for that very purpose (getting the role by default). He goes on to analyze 2ko's withdrawal as not wanting to be officially rejected because her pride was quite hurt by Kuresaki during the audition. If Kyouko were injured, the project would be so badly delayed that they can't hold another audition for Momiji, so Kuresaki would have to beg 2ko to accept the role, telling her she's the only one they can ask blah blah blah. That would satisfy 2ko's pride.

Kyouko protests his interpretation that 2ko planned that far. But Yashiro (I think) tells her not to make light of 2ko's desire to be loved, to be wanted, to be fawned over. He reveals that 2ko had sneaked a peek at Kyouko's Momiji performance and seen Kuresaki's reaction. Then he continues with his analysis. For a teenage girl to be so capable of psychological manipulation to that extent is scary. (I think) he compares 2ko's level of acting innocent to Ren's. Erika tells her henchman Houjou she's going home and she's tired. Kyouko goes up to thank Erika. Erika points out that she'd said earlier that Kyouko actually falling would have been better, and she really had no intention of stopping 2ko until she'd gotten sufficient evidence. So, basically, Erika set Kyouko up as bait. Erika tells Kyouko she hadn't believed Kyouko could surpass her own beautiful Momiji—until she saw Kyouko's Momiji, and she'd gotten the impression Kyouko's Momiji was the real deal and unconsciously wanted to see it, so she gives Kyouko permission to perform Momiji since their respective interpretations are different. She challenges Kyouko to make her (Erika) say Kyouko's vulgar and messy Momiji was magnificent on screen. Kyouko cheerfully accepts the challenge. Erika acts tsundere about Kyouko's reaction. The henchmen join in the comedy act. Then Erika mentions that Kyouko's probably worried about her partner (Kanae), and apparently deliberately reassures Kyouko that one failure won't get Kanae down. Erika knows this full well as Kanae's long-time stalker. End of chapter.

By the way, that's ^^ more of paraphrasing than a direct translation.

Screen_Shot_2018-05-18_at_8.36.06_PM.png

Vampirecat:

So Lory greets Ren with "Happy Birthday, Ren" and presents him with a vintage wine that was bottled 100 years ago on Ren's birthday and has "Lotus" (the same kanji as Ren) in its name. Ren is pleasantly surprised and thanks Lory. He tells Lory he'll open it gratefully on his birthday next year, and he'll look forward to it. Lory asks why, arguing that Ren can open it now. Ren disagrees, explaining that he's still a minor. The text beside Ren says: Tsuruga Ren, 19 years old at that time. As Lory gasps in horror, Yashiro thinks, "He'd forgotten."

Apparently, readers had pointed out Ren's real age to Nakamura-sensei, and she had the same reaction as Lory's. So, because of that, she says that Ren maintained a clean image, not drinking until he reached his majority. As for Young Kuon... well...please (I can't make out the kanji)

Chapter 259

Full Vampirecat summary:

The chapter title is "Unexpected Result - Ghost Card." The chapter opens after the kiss. Ren's stunned. The woman gives him a sweet smile and tells him she'll take that as this year's return gift. The kiss was witnessed by a bar attendant/cashier. Then she asks the cashier to recalculate Ren's bill and deduct the cocktails she ordered. Then the conversation proceeds as mentioned in the spoiler post.

Scene switch. One of Erika's henchmen calls Sakkii (Sakisaka, another henchman) and reports that they'd gotten the results they wanted (2ko quitting showbiz). He instructs Sakkii to cordially treat the film crew that helped out, and says Erika would be heading over.

While he's on the phone, Kyouko looks over the balcony rail and comments that it isn't as high as she'd thought—it's just around 3 stories—so she might not have died even if she'd fallen. Yashiro freaks, insisting she would die, and what is she being so carefree about?! He insists that if she landed badly, she would die. Kyouko laughs, explaining that she'd frozen up, imagining she would fall from the 10th floor, so if it's from there, she thought she'd get away with just broken bones. Yashiro is reminded of the Ruriko arc where Kyouko punches her palm, saying that even if she breaks a bone, it will mend.

At which point, Erika comments that if Kyouko had fallen, it would have more of a threat than just a video recording. She wishes Kyouko had fallen down because it would have looked better in a suspenseful tone. Kyouko cheerfully agrees, freaking out Yashiro again. He wonders if Erika isn't an ally. Then Kyouko points out that Erika had made preparations so that Kyouko's falling down wouldn't happen. She's only guessing, but she heard the two ask about the flurry of camera flashes. So, Kyouko lays out the whole "buying time for Yashiro to get there" deal and asks if it wasn't like that. Erika replies that she just didn't want things to go the way 2ko wanted. From that, Kyouko elucidates that if she'd gotten so badly injured that she couldn't perform Momiji, then 2ko would have automatically inherited the role.

Erika explains that that isn't all: there was also 2ko's plan to make Kuresaki bow his head, and 2ko's withdrawal from the audition was precisely for that purpose. Kyouko and Yashiro don't understand, so Erika prompts Houjou (one of her henchmen). He takes over, explaining the production rep (glasses guy who recognized Erika) overheard 2ko talking the corridor, saying that Kuresaki had injured her pride, and she couldn't stand it if she were officially rejected, so she backed out to force Kuresaki to beg her to take the role. Apparently, all the trouble that Hachisu has been facing was because of 2ko's machinations.

There's a whole scene showing the imagined begging on Kuresaki's part to placate 2ko's pride. Houjou expects that 2ko would have demanded to be placated "Fantastic Me (Kimi) Every Day." And Kyouko apparently remembers a blog title along those lines (maybe Kimiko's blog?) and is horrified. Yashiro objects, saying that Kuresaki wouldn't have needed to lower his head even though 2ko had personally withdrawn from the audition.

Houjou's the one who tells them not to look down on 2ko's desire to be loved, to be wanted, and to be fawned over. He reveals that 2ko confessed to secretly watching Kyouko's audition and how that led to her withdrawing from the audition. Yashiro's shocked to realize just what a conniving girl 2ko is, that she's worse that he'd thought—of course, she'd acted innocent in front of Ren, but...

Kyouko gets gloomy. Right then, Erika announces she's leaving. Houjou reminds her—she interrupts him, telling him she knows about greeting the film crew that helped out, and of course she intends to go. Kyouko thanks Erika for everything. Erika counters that she doesn't know what Kyouko means by "everything" but if it's for Kyouko's getting out unscathed, she points out that she'd said that it would have been better if Kyouko had fallen and she really had no intention of stopping the two until she'd gotten the evidence she wanted—a statement that scares Yashiro. Then it goes on to the challenge mentioned in the spoiler post, during which Kyouko gets a flashback to her fight scene.

So Kyouko cheerfully accepts the challenge. Erika goes full tsudere on Kyouko and blows up, demanding if Kyouko intends to lump her with "that woman." The extreme emotion she displays elates Houjou since she's so spirited. Kyouko guesses out loud that Erika is worried about Kanae. Naturally, Erika protests, full tsundere style, while Houjou and Kyouko look on with doting smiles.

Then Erika speculates that Kyouko probably still doesn't know the fate of her partner (of course, Erika would since she has inside info). She points out that if Kanae is given the slightest opening, Kanae will... Kyouko shows a calm and optimistic expression, and says Erika's long history of stalking Kanae isn't for show because Erika understands her better than anyone. And Erika's all "Shut up!" During which time, Kuresaki has approached Kanae and bows to her. So I'm guessing Kuresaki is asking Kanae to accept the role of Chidori. End of chapter.
