Sure so and so might be perfect technique wise but I prefer someone else because while they might not have the best technique their style is on point, they emote well, etc vice versa. There is no answer to that so stop vocal fanwars. I think he's right about how people in kpop are so critic with vocals and are just repeating stuff that they don't fully grasp. It's like all of sudden everyone was a vocal coach and knows exactly how an idol is supposed to sign and all of this based on random comments they see or hear in youtube/forums. Everyone that can hear should be able to tell if they like something or not but people take their criticism too far and try to make it pass as the absolute truth. So from that technical perspective you can rank them. Objective ranking can be done, the problem is people often let their own subjective criteria color their judgement. Maybe You should pay attention. He says both sing well and you cannot simply say that talented singer A sings better than talented singer B. One singing technique is not superior to another singing technique. If You watch his video, he is not saying A is better than B and he is not saying B is better than A. Which is the truth. Tell me who can paint better ? Famous Painter VanGogh OR Famous Painter Picasso ? And remember.... its not just your taste. You say that one must be better than the other objectively so i am really interested in your answer. i dont care if he is a vocal coach or not.... he tells the truth. You cannot compare talented singers and objectively say one is better than the others. Of course, a non-main singer is worse than a talented singer but as soon as both people have singing talent you cannot just rank them OBJECTIVELY. You can rank them SUBJECTIVELY, sure. But the point here is that Singing is an Art just like Painting. You might as well tag every artist.................is there a reason why you tag only exo and bts and bts vs exo? Some vocalists can do things that others can't, that's just a fact, and that's what is used to objectively rank them. I do think these rankings are flawed but likely not completely off. Exo's vocal line have superior technique to BTS', that's just a fact (although they do sometimes strain some of their iconic high notes when they perform live, but no one is perfect). Only thing i slightly agree with him on is you can't just judge based purely off of studio recordings. So again, I can admit that Exo's vocal line has better technique, but this says nothing about the quality of either groups music and it does nothing to stop me from preferring BTS' vocal colors + tones and the way in which each of their voices are used in their songs.
