That's kinda the point of the song though. Yes, it's sad that you break up but you knew it was time so there's no point in making it a messy ending. That's why a sadder melody wouldn't have been fitting.

me too. I was enjoying the music so much but after listening to it while reading the lyrics I could feel the emotion of the song.

Definitely one of the reasons why this song is doing well is how relatable it is. It's so simple in terms of production and tunes, but I really like it.

 

And I don't think this was meant to be a sad break up song as much as ab reflecting on a good relationship but understanding why it had to end and appreciating the good moments while also moving on. That's the vibe I got.

This is actually the kind of response that HANBIN wished, he wanted people to listen to the song and relate to the lyrics

As an iKONIC, I think it's a message for us, we had our good moments and last year came, some fans left, others boycotted, it felt like a goodbye and he doesn't want anyone to feel bitter about it, just to remember our good times together, - so to be more specific it's a message to the iKONICs who left the fandom -  that's why I teared up when I read the lyrics.
