Signed myself off work and I feel really guilty :(

So I made a thread last week about me getting my wisdom tooth removed and how it traumatised me because it was more complex than it should have been.

Anyway, since the tooth has been removed my face is all swollen and I have been in agony. No painkillers help, I can't eat, can't sleep and feel like shit. I went to work yesterday (work in a call center and it was the first time back since I had the tooth out) and got sent home. I phoned up the dentist place and they told me to go to the hospital. They cleaned the wound, gave me strong antibiotics and told me to keep an eye on it and I should go back if it does not get better in the next few days. They also told me to sign myself off work and have the rest of the week to rest.

I just phoned up work and told this to them and they were fine about it, but I feel so guilty. I have never been signed off work before and I know it isn't my fault, but I just feel so guilty! They saw how much pain I was in yesterday and how swollen my face was so they know I'm not lying, but I am just paranoid that they are talking about me and thinking I am making it worse than it is

Don't. Trust me, no one is talking shit about you. In fact, it's very likely no one is even thinking about you. My collegue Inge hasn't come to work for the past couple of days and we don't really talk about her (unless it's something like: Oh, I don't know the firealarm-code. Inge is in charge of that, but lemme go ask someone else). Don't stress out, just relax and take care of yourself.

Don't worry about it, get rest. They saw you in a terrible condition, they wouldn't talk about you behind your back like that. They're more likely to think of how horrible you must be feeling because of the complications (and talking about how they don't like dentists, and their own experiences with wisdom teeth )

Get well soon!
