There are an estimated 87,000 US iTunes sales for MIC Drop Remix using the numbers from kworb.

It has 19,116,012 US Spotify streams which equals 127,440 units.

US YouTube views are 12,399,126 which is 82,660 units. (Although this number is probably off since the RIAA only counts official video views but YouTube Insights adds in views from unofficial videos)

So that’s around 297,100 units from data that we can see. (I think, unless I did something wrong. I've seen people saying that they only need 120,000 more so I'm not sure what else people are adding up to get that number.)

But then there are sales from places like Amazon and GooglePlay music that we can’t see. Along with numbers from Apple Music.

But once you hit 500K you don’t automatically get handed a gold record. The record label has to make a request for certification and submit all the sales and streaming data to the RIAA.

The good thing about having a US label is that they'll keep track of sales; Gangnam Style went 5x platinum at the end of 2013.
