omg that's so cool

we don't get to choose our modules they're fixed. What's your major?

considering how one elective is hallyu and the world

guess harharplz.png

pretty sure they're letting us off easy with this one bc the non-electives would be hell OR because we have TOPIK to study for wthplz.png

but I love it - it is something I am interested in, I am good with languages AND MOST IMPORTANTLY I can get a high-paying job with it because it is "~~~exotic & rare~~~"

like, the things they put on slides to tell different species? I thought there were only like a few of those...at least that's what I learned in intro class. yuck :P

we also stain some slides in geology (well, only with carbonate rocks I think) but they didn't make us memorize them

in my country you just have to apply to a medical university

the tests are really hard but if you get in you are good to go if you graduate

lucky you. here in America you first have to get a bachelor's degree in any science major, take MCAT test and then apply for med school. A VERY LONG PROCESS

it doesn't end there either. my housemate last year had her MD degree and is doing her residency. firstly, she got like one day a week off, and on the days she was on woke up at like 4am, worked until 7pm, came home and studied some more until like 9pm, and then had to wake up and do it all again for 6 days in a row. Had to work christmas and thanksgiving, too. And apparently there are multiple additional board exams even after you graduate (hence studying). Makes me glad I'm no doctor (I wouldn't be suited for multiple other reasons...but I didn't realize it was quite that crazy until I lived with one).

Nope, a lot of people who don't get the grades for medicine do biomedical first and then do a bridging 2 years for medicine.

I'm not interested in medicine though, I want to be a pharmaceutical sales after my MBA or maybe become a pathologist or something. You?

And yeah mine is mostly for specimen though like fixatives for brains, eyes or bacteria and different stains show different things like haematoxylin stains the nucleus and another one stains the flagella of certain bacteria etc. You're lucky you don't have to remember this stuff

well my degree is in geosciences and I sort of 'specialized' (i.e., did research) in paleontology and sedimentology. I've done the intro bio sequence and a couple extra courses, but it's certainly not for me. we have to remember other things but I think there's way more rote memorization in bio than there is in geo these days. plus I find the subject matter more interesting, so...lol
