1. lsd is illegal so the news will not have a report about someone enjoying the time

2. i do not believe in one consciousness (and a "one consciousness" may only seem plausible because of unavoidable cultural/societal influence

3. we are not an imagination of ourselves

to further expand on point 1, anyone who wants to know the whole truth will search for it themselves anyway, so I do not have a problem with the current system

i think the dude used lsd an example of one type of drug, but there is a few countries where a few types of drugs are legal (i.e. netherlands).

but news are supposed to report a balance of different reports (a balance of both +(ve) and -(ve) stories, but nowadays the (-ve) outbalances the rare +(ve) ones and as results we get a dysfunctionality within society)

I'll need longer to think about that but I freakin' love Bill Hicks. Gone too early but still insightfully funny to this day.

True

do you know george carlin?

are you saying that if the news reported more positive stories, society would not be dysfunctional or less so?

nope thats not what i am saying. what i am saying is that the news should report a balance of different stories (both positive and negative ones), but nowadays it has been mostly negative stories and this as result in my opinion does influence the state of mind that a group of people or people in general will be in (namely they would be filled with more negative thoughts, negativity) <- that is dysfunctional. if there was a balance of different stories, the mind would have time to filter unnecessary bullshit and continue to function at a more healthier state.

i think that is an interesting theory... let's say the news is now perfectly balanced because all of the reporters agreed with this idea. there's a chance people will focus on the positive more than the negative (again, even if the news is balanced) and decide to do drugs "too much" because of this

it just seems impossible to know that "the mind" of people will be healthier only because the news is balanced

i mean it can make "the whole truth" more accessible, but i don't know if this is some great solution

if you have time watch this video its 7 min (its about consciousness, mind etc), but there's a particular part that i want to emphasize on which starts at 4min 50sec (david icke has an interesting point in that particular video, even though i don't really like him) which i thought kind of corresponded to this convo, even if it is a bit unrelated.

well it also doesnt necessary have to be just positive drug stories, but other stories about something like i dont know um "orcas have been able to deliver their babies successfully" (sorry this just popped into my mind and its just an example) instead of hearing how fishers kill whales or something (most of the time that is what they broadcast about, or how it is going to be extinct or something, the whales, specific types). so having a balance of both types of stories would be a bit lighter on the our "souls" sort of speak.

well i agree with your initial post about how people that want to seek out the truth will go and search further in the depths of it, but also making it as you said as well more accessible would be a good start for some people in my opinion as some may need a little push to go seek it (sort of speak, not forcing on it, but kind like make them question the reliability of the negative source)

i dont know if its a great solution but i think it could be a refreshing start to news broadcasting to broadcast a balance of different stories so that people would be able to also sort enjoy watching it (<-i am not sure how to explain properly)

sorry for the long essay reply

i'll check out the video. yes, the positive drug story was only a small point hinting at my view, but to clearly state it, i think it's the fault of the people, not the news

i agree that this change can possibly promote better moods, but i think it's more impressive if a person is able to figure things out for themselves, despite the existence of many negative stories

however, this change wouldn't negatively affect me, so i guess i'd support it
