I NEED HELP BEING AN ADULT

Basically an opportunity has arisen for me to purchase a home. I wasn't even thinking of buying a house, but the chance has basically fallen into my lap. The interest rates are pretty low rn (in the US), the area where I would be buying is up and coming (so it's an investment), it'd be about the same price as renting (or cheaper), it'd be closer to work then the apartment I was about to lease. BUT it's a huge responsibility and I totally wasn't even thinking about buying a house! Should I go for it?

It's a big commitment. So, make sure it's something you actually want because other costs and burdens - i.e., lawncare/snow removal/money set aside for repairs - are annoying. But it is a good time to buy if it's something you are interested in. I'd talk to a lender and figure out the financial impact.

Furniture is expensive, too.

I'd go for it, sure you weren't prepared for it

but what if an opportunity like this never presents itself again

you'll figure everything out as you go, it's an learning experience

but I'm also a 20y.o so maybe you wanna take everything I say with grain and salt lmao

Go for it, having a house is not only important in the sense of having shelter but it also guarantees some sort of stability in case everything else goes wrong, and you did say the area is up and coming so it's even better

you might not need a house NOW but you'll probably want to start a family later, or maybe even rent the top floor, a lot of possibilities open up

do it
