Veteran fans of groups that have disbanded: how have you moved on?

I've been in a Kpop slump ever since 4minute disbanded. I haven't been able to move on despite there being newer and better groups. The quality of Kpop is way better than the era and generation I came into (2009) and I've stanned over a buttload of groups from the underrated to the Big 3. I'm just not with it anymore.

If I revisit 4minute's music it depresses me, especially when the song is actually good which is rare in 4minute's discography. They have a handful of gems that I didn't appreciate sincerely as an active fan but now that I'm missing it when it's gone I be dancing to the songs like

What's worse is that 4minute's disbanded was boredline messy. We're still unclear as to what happened to the members. We know financially they weren't pulling what they needed so Cube bushed them but all the members seem to be getting along well, to this day, except Hyuna.

I don't know, I left kpop and haven't been actively following other groups like i used to but every time I do a brief check up another OG group has disbanded. Now that I know there's more of us, how have you lot been dealing with the destruction of a generation? Yall don't have to pretend to act strong, I know I be acting like a big baby about these things.

It was hard after C-Clown's disbandment but thankfully I still have EXO so things are better.

it also helps that the former members of C-Clown are active on ig/ some even tried their luck in shows like MixNine or The Unit, they still hang out together but I still miss their music a lot

I'm going to count Snsd as a disbanded group until they have full group activities together. I'm used to waiting for them but I have exo, nct, and sr18g to keep me interested in kpop. Just find other groups to love and stan but never forget the group that made you fall in love with kpop/them

American music ohbi.png I've been paying a lot more attention to it now that many of the groups I liked disbanded or went on hiatus

I was upset about Rania and Chocolat for such a long time that I'm over it now.

But I still get kinda sad when I think about 2NE1, KARA, 4Minute, Secret... anxiously waiting for f(x), waiting for Tiffany to do something. It's pretty frustrating honestly.

Nice to see you here again!

4minute and KARA's disbandments (especially when both T-ara and BEG are quite inactive) took away a large part of my interest in kpop.  I followed the Kara members individual activity quite a bit, as for 4minute I'd like to do that too but it's difficult when the 4minute thread is basically a battleground.

Newer acts are still quite good I guess but I'm not as invested in them. Right now I guess Dreamcatcher is the group I'd listen to the most? Alongside KARD & April, and the occasional song by groups like Laboum etc.

For the last 6 months I've been more interested in J-pop. Until then it was almost exclusively Perfume, but especially since Jonghyun's death I've more or less completely gone over to the J-pop side.

I listen to all types of music but I don't tend to follow celebrities religiously. Kpop was the exception because it's like a demonic cult.

I don't visit the thread often either. I used to be a part of the problem trying too hard to control it but eventually I just left the website altogether.

4minute, missA, Wonder Girls and to a certain extent f(x) (as in they havent promoted in korea as a group since 2015) were all groups i followed religiously (bought everything they released, never missed anything from them) and i started to feel this void ever since they stopped promoting one after the other.

but i started to follow other girlgroups, starting from same company groups (clc and red velvet especially, my love for them is as big as my love for their inactive seniors) so it keeps me really interested in kpop. I also still follow all the members from those groups so as long as they still do stuff i'll never really move on from those girlgroups (keeping up with each of their solo stuff turned out to be more time consuming than keeping up with their former groups, so i guess nothing really changed)

also none of the boygroups i stanned when i first joined kpop have disbanded yet LOL but i guess the same thing would happen with them

I can't believe it went from some people fighting about Beast to fighting about Hyuna 0u0plz.png

Both 4minute and Kara members mostly became actresses so I'm not really following them much. Well I do follow Hyuna a bit but her songs have been hit and miss (mostly miss for me).

Same. None of her songs have stood out to me and I pretty much lost all high expectations after her trio unit.

You move on from the korean idol music scene itself, but i do listen to some new groups from time to time.but It has become more difficult to funnel through so much mediocrity to even get to something decent now.

And If The void for Your faves isn't being filled.Try following other fields or revisiting old hobbies.

For me it's tech and videogames.Since Videogames have been there for me since I was like 4.

Watching movies passes the time nicely too.Kpop mostly just was me realizing, that this market isn't actually that supportive of music at all,and since each generation changes so quickly and so many groups die out so quickly or become generic or awful overtime, while most of the time, all the while people argue over the stupidest of shit.

Yeah, most of third gen will move on like Second gen fans, and I might say more quickly even.
