Separated by a great distance[1], [we] face one another on opposite sides of the Milky Way[2].
For a millenium, [we] wait.
[Across] a thousand mountains and ten thousand rivers, gaze into the distance from a high place at your charming beauty.
Let the stars and the moon be [our] matchmaker.

Far away, the sky and the sea join together. The profound darkness falls.
Love is tightly locked outside the city walls. [i am] suffering and waiting for that person[3] to return.

Waiting until time and space have shattered, [until] the mountains and valleys have turned to dust,
[until] even [our] countenances have withered.
Leaving behind love to unceasingly reincarnate in this world.

In life and in death, [we] forever follow one another.
Traveling all over the vast land and sky, freely fly with you.

The desolate boudoir does not know of the taste of lovesick yearning.
Only for you do wither into wannness.
Looking forward [to your return] with impatient anticipation, [my] tears fall like meteors.
Facing the mirror, paint [my] delicate eyebrows.

T/N:

[1] 天å—地北: Literally "sky south earth north", this is a metaphor for separation over a great distance, something along the lines of being in opposite corners of the earth.

[2] 银河: Literally "silver river", this description of being divided by the Milky Way is a reference to the folk tale The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. As punishment for their forbidden love, the Queen Mother (a goddess) created the Silver River and banished them to opposite shores. The lovers can only meet once every year on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar year, when magpies form a bridge over the river.

[3] ä¼Šäºº: "That person" is often used for a woman, sometimes, the woman of one's heart.
