Which male idols do you think are gay?

I know it's wrong to speculate about the deceased, but did you ever think he was one of us and we lost another queer person today? because this wouldn't be the first time that this happened in korea

I also thought that him most likely being LGBT in the land of homophobes could have played not the least role in his suicide.

it is a very common trait in gay men. some people recognize it and some dont. this is one of the things we call ''flaming''

i will not argue after this. thx.

I agree with you. It’s not just the fact that he crosses his legs but also the way he crosses them that makes him ping.

I especially have to agree because I sometimes cross my legs like this too and my friends told me that it was one of the few reasons they thought I could be gay even before I came out to them. I am not really "flaming" otherwise (according to them).

Hardly a receipt, but I just came across this old video of Jaehyun and Doyoung from when they were Show Champion MC's:

And oh my gosh, Jaehyun pings so hard in this video. It's crazy how much his voice (it was so much higher here!) and way of talking changed in the one year between this video and NCT U's debut... Especially the way he talks from 2:02 onwards, it almost sounds like he had the gay lisp :') It is really obvious that here he hadn't yet developed the whole ~ideal son-in-law/fantasy boyfriend persona he maintains nowadays, which I think is interesting, so I just wanted to share.

Wow Jaehyun always seemed to me like the straightest alpha male in NCT (I’m not too much into them) but I can’t deny that he really pings in this video. Obviously not to Key’s, Jo Kwon’s or Sungjong’s level but pretty close...

Look at the threads title- this isnt an LGBT genereal thread. Even so I dont view aaexuals as LGBT and most of us are not interested in discussing them. Its not the purpose of the thread and I think you need to make your own instead of leeching off of this one.

I agree. There is no need to make this thread even more of a mess than it already is.

Ya know, if you make a post listing what you think of different idols' sexualities and say you think X member is ace, literally no one's going to care. What people don't like is endless argument over whether being aro/ace spectrum makes you LGBT, because this is not the thread for that.

Exactly! Seriously no better way to put it.

Are we gonna pretend that Doyoung wasn't there and that they didn't have a fanmeeting and did a vlive all 18 of them together earlier today, just to make this look like a JaeYong thing? Alright then.

Ik i'm gonna get downvotes since JT have so many shippers posting on this thread, but y'all are constantly reaching.

So true. Jaeyong have questionable moments but this is too much.

I've been in a sorta similar situation so I'll give my opinion on this matter.

I think the awkwardness was a product of the members teasing Bobby & Junhoe, and this is due to the members knowing, or at least believing, that Junhoe likes men (I believe so, esp with that list saying Junhoe being last or never getting married) and as well as their closeness. I think the awkwardness usually triggers when they are with the members & fans (because they'll get teased) because they are conscious about their image/status in the eyes of other people even if there's really nothing there. It's very hard to explain TBH unless you've also experienced it.

All in all, I think there's nothing romantic going on but more like being self-conscious about how the people, besides them, see their relationship with each other. I may be wrong though...

Yeah. There are really tons of moments where Jungkook is fascinated with men so I really don't see why some people still won't consider him as anything but straight.

Maybe because straight men can also be fascinated by other men in a non-sexual way?

seriously agree with thisã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ especially when it doesn’t look forced but when they do skinship f*cking naturally. No but are you gonna tell me that it’s normal for guys to do that in their 20’s?! Even as a girl in her teen, it’s hard for me to do these extensive skinship with my female friends?! Anyways, that’s what I thinkã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹ã…‹

Ok I still think Mark is straight and LGBT-friendly but just not to the point where he's totally comfortable with other guys kissing and touching him even in "joking" ways. And a lot of straight people are like this, so I don't see him being "confused" or anything. And don't even start this "toxic masculinity" bullshit or whatever.

However, I'm starting to have second thoughts about Haechan...

the thing that's suspect about mark tho is that according to the other members he LOVES skinship, but as soon as the cameras start rolling he goes into this rigid, awkward, "please don't touch me" mode.

i think he's very scared of being perceived as gay. notice how he's always the first one to react to any gay stuff, even if it doesn't involve him. at first i just brushed it off as him being very self aware, but he literally gets SO NERVOUS it's like you can feel the anxiety through the screen. it reminds me of myself when i was in the closet and constantly paranoid that people would somehow find out.

I see your point and I think it's a fair one. In any case, Mark is in the gray area for most of us, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see (as always...)

On a side note: people seem to have mixed opinions on Haechan. Can anyone who thinks he might be queer explain why they think so or provide some solid receipts?

I never paid attention to him until today but after a few hours of youtube binging, I started to think that he has a thing for Mark. Though even if he is a hetero (which I doubt at this point), he seems like one of those super chill and open-minded ones who won't have a breakdown over kissing another guy. And he is really funny too! I can see a little Heechul or Baekhyun in the making.

Do you guys know of any idols that reached out to Holland, supporting him or anything like that?

Why would they? All he did was debut as an openly LGBT person with an LGBT-themed MV. It obviously matters a lot to the gay folk and some openly LGBT-friendly people (which are almost non-existent in Korea) but in terms of talent or music quality, I'd say he scores quite low, so other idols have no reason to support him for that. The only idol coming to my mind who could've potentially openly supported him for his bravery was Jonghyun but...

Why in the fresh hell would people withhold a word of congratulations and encouragement for coming out because the song wasn't spectacular? Tbh, I can think of quite a few idols who have recommended or supported songs far worse than Holland's. I could believe that most idols wouldn't be allowed to make any public statements about it, but Holland said originally that no Korean celebrities had approached him (presumably privately). That is, until he met Hong Seok Cheon, and he said he got to meet a lot of other people there too (probably some other celebrities). Also, there have been quite a few idols, male and female, who have shown support for the LGBT community (BoA performed at San Fran Pride ffs). That makes me think he wasn't approached by anyone originally in large part because people hadn't heard about him. He said himself in his last Q&A that while he got a lot of support from international fans, Korean fans weren't really paying attention. Hopefully with time, he'll gain more Korean fans and make more connections in the industry.

My point sorta was that:

Being gay — talent — money —superb visuals = 0 % percent chance of making it big in K-pop.

I may come across as a d*ck but I think I'm just being real here. Holland has made history and no one can take it from him but he's highly unlikely to go places. I wish him best of luck though.
