Given the amount of homophobia (casual and otherwise) that occurs in KPOP, I give credit to the idols who have bothered to take a stand for us and refuse to give shit to the idols that don't. I'm not going to call an idol an ally just because they haven't said they want us executed in town square. Allies: Jonghyun, Chansung, Taeyeon, Seulong, Takuya. and any other idols who has said and done supportive things for us. Homophobes: Zico, Junho, GO, Eli, and Yoon Mi Rae, are what comes to mind. I saw that lots of analysis depend on display of skinship between males or on how flamboyant they look etc. Or from what I've seen from being in the kpop fandom for a while now is that gay people wouldn't probably act like that. I mean that if you take that interview from Winner they clearly explained that when Nam Taehyun joined the company and the other trainees thought he was gay they were clearly saying stuff like "you can't share a room with him" etc. That leads me to think that if someone was to be gay and come out in a kpop band it would actually make the other members uncomfortable. I mean you have to imagine that they live together, sometimes share a single room, are encouraged to do lots of skinship for the fans etc. If one of them were to say "hey guys actually i'm gay", i think it might lead to some distance between the members. (of course i don't need to talk abt how conservative SK is on such matters) So, i was thinking that gay kpop idols would rather be the ones uncomfortable with public display of affection or the ones who tries to act really manly. I mean when you see Kim Heechul kissing his members on stage, writing fanfics on twitter abt them, if he was truly gay, would they casually accept all of that? What do you guys think? i'm just making a guess here, that just my feels on the matter haha Heechul is... special lol. He's thrown out as much evidence as he possibly can that he's gay without outright saying it. Heenim has always enjoyed pushing boundaries and causing speculation about himself. You're not incorrect though. There are some groups/members like that. It depends on the individuals. Groups like Super Junior and EXO have a lot of members, so even if there are homophobic ones, they might not have to interact all that often. Then there are groups like SHINee where you're questioning if any of them are straight rather than gay, or you have ones like TVXQ who are bros that are fine with it. But then you have the others, and yeah, Taehyun comes across as one who tries to put up the "I'm manly" image. Yunho was also like that. Everyone else mostly covered it, but basically they don't appear on music shows, variety, etc, anymore. It's not so much that TV networks and such can't bring them on so much as they don't want to because SM will stop sending their idols for appearances. Between one group and all SM groups, the choice is obvious. Just be mindful when discussing the issue with hardcore fans since they're very... eh... enthusiastic about their stance on who is right. Yes, there is such a thing as mostly straight, but it's also possible to be in denial, closeted, or just trained a certain way. About gay marriage, even Dolce & Gabbana spoke against it.
