I know you don't mean anything by it, but I seriously don't get why every time a guy does something cute he's suddenly a girl. Schoolgirl, fangirl, blushing like a girl, etc etc.. Boys do these things too, and it just makes them not want to do them because every time they do people call them a girl. Why can't he just be fanboying? Why is that not good enough? 

 

 

I think what really bothers me is that people really only do this when guys are interacting with other men. If he were saying this stuff about a woman you can bet he'd be "blushing like a schoolboy" or "like a kid", but because it's two men suddenly he becomes a "girl" (edit: also when it's in a non-hetero way about a woman). It's like even when accepting that it's two men physically, people just can't get over the fact that two men who identify as men and are entirely 100% completely men inside and out could have anything romantic going on. They need to heteronormalize it somehow.

 

I thought surely at least the GLBT community would be better than this. Surely they would all know the pain of constantly being misgendered and etc by a heteronormative society. But no

Jren, one of my beloved OTPs. I wonder if I am the only one who thinks that whenever they interact there is a sexual tension flying around them. Also, their not-so-secret "checking each other out" glances aren't pure and innocent either. Gunhee and Heechul at this point are either trolling or are seriously fucking. Gunhee has like 200k insta followers and most of them are most likely Gunheechul shippers.

 

I'm sure they are sleeping together.   They're adults, Heechul is 31, and obviously very much in love with each other and each other's company.  I'm sure they post things to keep their fans drooling as well.  Gunhee has some fans on his own, but you're right, he'd probably have only 500 from his shop if he wasn't Hee's bf haha

Is it me or are Gunhee and Heechul getting a little reckless? Like, I love that they're ahppy and comfortable with each other but I feel like Gunhee's been a bit too revealing on his instagram the past few days. Not all the blame is on him. Heechul let him post the stuff...

 

They know what each other is doing.  I don't think we can blame Gunhee.  I'm happy they feel free enough to post it.   HeeChul said in the past on Instagram he was ''having dinner with the person he loves most" and of course it was Gunhee.   That was months ago and no one in Kpop blinked an eye

Tbh Onkey is my safe heaven from all the drama around other otps (I don't care for anyone else except Myungjong hehe)! They're constant though not in your face. Basically Key is pretty much at ease with any Shinee member but Jonghyun, maybe bc of that I enjoy his interactions with all of them minus aforementioned member.

I think Key and Jong will always be a little different now after what happened in 2010,   of course they will all be pretty close as they have been such constant companions for 7-8 years now.   People make too much over OnKey,  its a silly ship.   Theres nothing there and Onew is obviously straight.  

I wonder if the reason journalists are not delivering such a juicy story is bc it's wrong(?) to forcefully out a gay couple? It's weird how SM allows both of them to continue posting such questionable photos...

 

In my opinion, Hee and Gunhee don't seem to care.   I think they're happy to be as  'out' as they have been.   I"m also happy they seem to be so happy with each other and letting us all see it.    Maybe SM doesn't have as much control over Heechul as we think,  he's been with them for 12 years now,  maybe he has some backstage clout.

I think the fact that they are always together and posting pics since he got out of the army helps.  People are growing accustomed to GunHee.  I think HeeChul's fans have always 'wondered' about his orientation anyway.

That said, I think Heechul has probably decided a long time ago to come out. But he tries to do it slowly, so that people will just say "Oh? Really? Well, it's not surprising" or "We already knew, thanks". 

I still think he's scared though. Who wouldn't be? It's not only him, and Gunhee. It's also Super Junior, and supposedly a lot of other Kpop idols who could be involved. For now, it works with the "we don't know it exists, we don't see it, we don't care", but once one of them will come out, they will not be able to avoid the subject, and medias will probably try to find other "non-straight" idols.

Gunhee doesn't look like someone who would feel attacked easily by people's opinion. He's a hair stylist, he does his job, it doesn't really matter. Of course he will have hard times at the beginning, but it will be okay in the future.

 

I think Heechul is probably more sensitive than he would like us to believe. He's not so confident, his voice is almost always shaking at the beginning of his solos, he was completely destroyed after Hangeng left. He almost left Suju after singing off-key on a tv show because he didn't want to be a burden.For me, he just looks like someone who uses walls, and smiles, and stupid jokes to make people believe that he doesn't care. I'm sure he cares. Maybe not about the number of fans, but at least about Suju, and people close to him.

 

I think you hit the nail on the head here.  People like him with such a loud personality are often the opposite deep inside and behind the scenes.  To me, as a gay man, he was a bit obvious years ago, so it doesn't surprise me he's getting more out especially now he's over 30 and done with the military.   Gunhee is probably 'perceived' as gay anyway as he is a hairdresser and fashionable dresser.  Seeing as how Gunhee has been on tour with SJ and has taken pics with them, I think its safe to assume they know who he is.   Some of the others in the industry probably look the other way, like you said and/or back off because he works for SM.  

Well, monitors. They are sure aware, but he's a grown-ass man. What could they do, reprimand him? Like he'd give a shit. It's his career. Plus, if bad comes to worse, he's not essential to the group.

Wellll. If there is such a sign in K-pop at all, Onew would be a proud candidate. He just has that something that makes my gay brain go "...nope, carry on". Now sure, it's a lack rather than a presence. But I would say that being obviously anything in terms of perceived sexuality is preceded by IMO at any rate.

I love the guy.  He's truly, to me, one of the best voices in Kpop ever.  I love his personality and attitude.  He's probably one of the sweetest men I've seen on camera to his group and others.   But,  as a gay man, with very good gaydar, I must admit, in my opinion,  he gives off no gay vibe at all.   I'd run around the streets naked if he ever came out as gay.   He's sweet and loving to his group members as he is the oldest and their good friends.  Thats all I see.

Not be a hypocrite, but I personally am OK with your opinion as well as any other expressed here, that's the point of pluralism isn't it? My initial post abt Onkey was to express my support for w/e it is they have - Onew & Key. I just love when my biases get along well.

Personality he is, but it's still not that much of a problem to cut him loose. So I do think they advise him, but I'm not convinced he keeps people awake at night (perhaps with the exception of Gunhee).

 

 

 

Oh, don't belittle that. Look at Francisco Lachowski. I'd be happy if he were gay, but since he is not, he and his model girlfriend should have 10 kids at least. We need those genes spread. Luckily, they're trying.

About Heechul, I agree with what someone else said that he may be crossing the line a little bit with how open he is being on WGM and Instagram in regards to his relationship with Gunhee. After witnessing how unforgiving and mean K-netizens were concerning the way Baekhyun and Taeyeon were communicating with each other via Instagram, it made me wonder if Heechul will face similar scrutiny/criticism if he does eventually come out for being so obvious about his relationship through SNS and WGM. I'm worried the fans might make claims to feeling "betrayed" like they did with those two. Then again, Heechul's fans are probably 5-10 years older than Baekhyun's fans and thus more mature, so they probably won't care as much. But it's still something I would worry about if I were him.

 

Also, as much as I enjoy watching Heechul and Gunhee making a complete joke out of the WGM program through their behaviour (because that show honestly is a joke), I feel as though if he does come out in the near future, WGM's reputation would be completely ruined because there would be no denying it's fakeness. A fair amount of K-netizens still watch it thinking it's at least a little bit real. But when they find out Heechul was just making a joke out of it, I feel as though they might criticize his behaviour on the show for betraying/lying to the fans. They might criticize him for wanting to go on the show just to make fun of it and hurting Puff's reputation in the process. 

 

I don't know where I'm going with this. I guess I just worry about how open Heechul/Gunhee are being with their relationship now because it might come back to bite them later if they ever come out/are outed publicly. As much as we international fans might find this whole spectacle entertaining, K-netizens will likely not feel the same way. And in the end, it's the Korean public's reaction that's going to affect his career/reputation/future the most.

 

What would be interesting to find out is how the Korean audience sees this whole situation.  Do they notice Gunhee and HeeChul are closer than Hee and Puff?  What did they think of the whole scene in the hair salon?  The male to male kiss and Gunhee not letting Hee kiss Puff?

WGM seemed to have a bad reputation for finding gay men anyway,  now it's just got silly with HeeChul,  I haven't watched much with Key, but people have said there is no chemistry there either.  I can't bare to watch the show as its just silly and I'll be sitting there waiting for GunHee to come out in each scene to make it interesting.

 I don't think Hee is purposely trying to ruin the show or Puff's career, but #1 if you're currently in a gay relationship why say 'Yes' to the show and #2 why are you bringing your boyfriend on the set/show with you so much?   GunHeeNim have gone farther than any idols to show who they are without saying ''we are a couple'',  I give them credit for being so bold.  Honestly, Korea does need a couple like this. I believe HeeChul is strong enough to get thru this and his fans won't really be surprised.  

The show itself could have been ok, but their Instagram and Twitter posts 'out' them more.

I agree. WGM Global is aimed at international fans instead of korean fans, much less the korean public.

 

And Heechul hasn't been "lying" to fans as mentioned since he's always been explicit in who his captions are referring to. For example when he's directing to fans he calls us "my babies" "my kids" etc.

 

I really didn't expect Gunhee to be so big now tbh. I saw him last year when he came with Heechul and I didn't know he'd be everywhere as much as he is now.

 

It's interesting to see how this continues and I hope there's a good ending.

True, without his Instagram it would be more difficult to figure out, Hee has been very direct with his love for GunHee on Instagram referring to him as ''the one I love".  Gunhee is popular because many people know he is 'with' HeeChul.   I was surprised also when I saw him on stage with SuJu last year.
