I apologize for being slightly off topic here but i've seen it brought up a few times and I just feel like I should say that saying you think someone is bisexual because they're so thirsty they'll flirt with anything that moves is just as harmful as all the gay stereotypes that there have been efforts to try and avoid. I'd also like to add that bisexuality is sorta like a spectrum and it's very possible to be more attracted to one gender than another rather than it being 50/50.

Hey, long time since I posted. Regarding the rumour, if we discount the fact that the group couldn’t become A-list, and turn that part into a little lie so to not make it too obvious, I can see a small possibility of it actually being DBSK and Yunjae, since the group disbanded.

 

 

My reasoning goes like this: Yunho’s dancing kind of has a kkap style to it, doesn’t it?

 

 

And Yunjae did have a lot of rumours, both in Japan and Korea, perhaps not rumours fit for Dispatch articles, but weren’t they mentioned in a blind item once? I’m too lazy to find it, I just know there was a blind item that reminded me of them, long time ago (not sure it specified a homosexual couple, though). I was thinking, even if the rumours didn’t hit the news, it still must have reached the company a few times, for it to affect the group, as well.

Everyone remember the Hong Seok Cheon moment when he said there was a famous gay couple that was together, right? Generally, everyone from the KPOP-world and even a few regular citizens of Korea, believed it was Yunjae, as they were the most popular pairing at the time. HSC’s statement happened the summer of 2008, afterwards Yunjae was noticeably calmer and definitely distant with each other, almost like they had been forced to cut down because the general public’s suspicions were damaging the group.

 

However, there were no dating scandals with either of them, but both of them had rumours with girls, that 90 % of the fandom, at least, were aware of.

Now, both Yunho and Jaejoong have had fans thinking they are depressed, mostly during the lawsuit and after the split, and Jaejoong have had rumours (within fandom) of wanting to commit suicide and Yunho was suspected of having cut himself recently because of these scars:

 

 

But in the end most people let it go and decided the scars were from practising some move for a choreography.

Anyway, just wanted to point out that we shouldn’t disregard Yunho’s dancing as anything but fabulous 

 

I thought about it, too, but there are things to it that make me think it's not DBSK:

1. DBSK was huge, not "could've been big"

2. DBSK isn't disbanded, three members left. Though if it was written back in the years it seemed like they would disband, it could've been a mistake.

3. No one from DBSK is known for having a "kkap" style. A kkap style is a purposefully hyper exaggerated/overacting style, from my understanding. None of them were known for it then or now.

4. The only one from DBSK who had a dating scandal before the split was JunSu/TaeYeon. There were rumors, but nothing with photos to my knowledge.

5. According to the item, there was photo evidence of the couple released by Dispatch, even if it had a mosaic. SM would shut that down so fast, they were very good at keeping true scandals unknown. They're not as strong these days, but their PR power is still huge.

 

So I don't think it's them, unless the item deliberately changed a lot of facts. That's if it's true at all and not a bunch of shit. 

 

I don't think it's SHINee either. They're not disbanded, for one. Other things make me think it, too. I think the real sorrow here is that there are multiple people who are suicidal and likely get no help in the place they live in...

If you guys are gonna make guesses about who the group/couple is please use all of the information. Everybody keeps guessing groups that fit into some of the criteria but not others, and there's really no point to that 

 

It can't be DBSK or SHINee or FTTS ot Infinite. None of them technically disbanded, DBSK is the definition of "A level group", and FTTS debuted in the 90s.

 

 

Well, FTTS debuted late 1999 and was most active during the early 2000s. Most everyone thought they had disbanded with their long hiatus and even Brian had said he and HwanHee had a huge fight that almost led to FTTS' disbandment.  Not saying it was them, just that they're both very easy mistakes to make. Anyway, it definitely can't be DBSK and Infinite I find unlikely even without the disbandment part. 

 

 

A lot of people here think that like at-least half of EXO (of all 12) are gay.

This is so confusing because there is like some sort of proof but 6 out of 12 men is super super rare.

Unless SM purposely chose 6 gay trainees to form EXO.

 

Eh, don't forget that the entertainment industry attracts a higher number of gay people in general, and SM Entertainment even more so than others. There are some companies who may even slightly favor it for less than scrupulous reasons.

Most companies probably have somewhat of a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. A lot of entertainers aren't going to come out on their own for fear of ruining their career, so they stay silent or lie. For idols, it can actually benefit the company, since they won't be going out with girls and have a certain level of discretion due to the backlash they can receive from society in general for being gay. Among stylists and dancers it's even more common since those professions attract a higher level of gay men to begin with.

I think it's important to look at why the show is called 'Real Men' and how that ties into the concept though. The implication is if you go off to the army and finish your service you are in turn a 'real man'. Why? Not only because it's expected of Korean men to serve, but also because the army itself is very centered around hyper-masculinity. The show might only be simulating what army life is like, but it's really the same principle. 

 

This, basically. The show itself might be harmless, I've never seen anything besides snippets, but there is that implication that a "real man" is someone hyper masculine who does "manly" things, usually involving physical things like sports, weightlifting, army training, etc. No matter where you go, the concept of an army is something super masculine, going to the army is perceived as the manliest thing to do. It's lessening in some countries, but still very much alive.

 

Basically this. There's also this idea that even if you skip out on the draft for legitimate medical reasons, you're not a "real man", as if it's better to put yourself (and potentially those around you) in serious danger. Sadly I doubt most non-fans will give a fuck about any health problems Sungjong might have, if he has trouble doing some of the physical tasks they'll probably just talk shit 

 

I never got that either. The last person you want having and knowing how to use weaponry is someone physically incapable or mentally unstable. I feel bad for Sungjong because I really do think he suffers a lot from the comments on his masculinity. You're a man if you're a man. That's all. You can say you don't like men without acting disgusted by it, so I would feel irritated by it. In a world where every resource you can imagine is online, there's no reason for such a person to not educate themselves about these things, especially in an industry where you're exposed to many types of people. I understand that certain countries have a long way to go with acceptance, but there's no need to be demeaning to others.

All this. I was quite shocked that I came across all these stereotypes not long ago on OH. Someone made a thread about "would you date a person who is *insert something negative*" and bisexual was one of those things. What made me even more uncomfortable was that majority of the people who answered said that they would not date a bisexual person. Lol, I felt so rejected. I had completely forgotten how negatively some people see us.

 

I remember seeing one for transgenders, too. Depressing, isn't it? Don't think a lot of people are nearly as open minded as they believe themselves to be.

Transgender is a little bit different since the transition result is still far from perfect, especially for ftm. You could be the most amazing person in the world, but if you have the wrong hardware then a sexual relationship just isn't gonna work for most people. It's an unfortunate situation that I hope we see resolved in our lifetimes, but there's just no getting around it currently. People are attracted to what they're attracted to.

 

Somehow it actually just ends up making him more obviously a closet case. He's so annoying when he does that stuff.

 

I know, but that's not what I mean. It's the disgust people have towards it. It's not just "I'm not attracted," but a sense of "ew, that's so gross, who would do that." Even with words, people don't use the n-word or faggot around in seriousness without getting repercussions, but they'll throw the word tranny around like it's nothing. Having been called a whore many times just for liking multiple sexes, genders, whatever, bigotry really irritates me no matter who it's towards. Maybe it's because I'm pansexual that I'm incapable of caring about these things. But this isn't the place for this discussion, so I'ma stop here.

 

Usually when I tell people that I'm bi, there is always that some kind of look that they give me. Kind of like evaluating that am I only saying that to get attention, or just somehow suspicious. Guys usually take it as that I'm trying to get into their pants by saying that, as if I'd be willing to just "make their fantasies come true" or something. As if I'm only bi to please men or some shit. Sometimes lesbians seem to have a similar reaction unfortunately, especially if there are males present in that situation.

In the recent years I've started to think that people really are more accepting, like why would it matter what my sexuality is as long as we both are attracted to each other? But obviously it's not like that at all.

 

I have known guys who act like that, and I always found it really unsettling. But yeah, apparently stupid things like this still matter. Breaking up with your partner and dating the same sex person afterwards means you were gay all along, and dating an opposite sex person after breaking up with the same sex person means you were just using them to experiment. Unpopular opinion but... i'm not entirely convinced Baek is bi... i'm 50/50 with him. If you look at his predebut pics, the cutesy/shy thingy (especially around guys) seems to be recent (even predebut-Chanyeol had more aegyo than him). He didnt really seem like that predebut and he also does the most fanservice, he's like, the fanservice king and it seems more like he just found a thing that works for him.

 

Not to say whether he is or isn't, but I'd just like to point out that he's a lot older now than he was predebut and he could have realized or gained a better understanding of what kind of person he does and doesn't like. I never seriously looked at a man as a romantic/sexual partner until I was in my 20s. It's important to remember people's tastes and opinions can change as they grow older.
