Which male idols do you think are gay?

Recommended Posts

Apparently (according to people on Twitter) he was just whispering "Jungkook, I'm hungry" into his ear, which is probably more likely, but it was still a weirdly intimate moment. Did he really need to get so close and turn his whole head into Jungkook's neck like that?

Wearing headphones, I can hear kissing noises. It's not *that* big of a deal; Hoseok has tried to kiss Jungkook's neck before too. Still, that plus the way Jimin was talking was pretty far from hetero behavior, if you ask me.

I can hear his speak clearly? He said " I'm hungry " whiny tone. They even did subtitles.

Oh yeah I can hear him saying that too, but I can also hear him making kissy noises after that. I'm sure they were just joking around though, and even then, Jungkook has kissed Hoseok's neck in BV2, so it's not that unusual for BTS lol.

Edit: ^I'd love to hear more about this Jeffrey guy...

I know there are quite a lot of new people here lately and this is not Idol or K-pop related but sometimes we post Channel Gimcheolsoo from YouTube because he's a gay Korean guy who, with his boyfriend Jangho, covers a lot of social content in South Korea. For those that don't know of him, Cheolsoo likes to get out and about, interviewing ordinary people. He has a new video (with English subs) asking people in the street what they understand 'Love' to mean.

The diverse nature of people not just identifying as straight and LGBT but pan, asexual, questionary and intersex is very positive. If you like to keep up with authentic Korean people giving their opinions Cheolsoo is a great YouTuber to watch. (Also being a good gay he has a couple of really cute cats.)

Thanks for posting this! I love his videos; they're so sincere.

Hi, it's been a while ~

Shipping has changed sides.

This is how idols should deal with shipping culture. Just turn the tables and ship fans. laugh.png

Isn’t korea anti gay why would that be approved

SK has had quite a few dramas and films with gay relationships. Also, China is more homophobic than SK politically, so I don't think SK adapting it is that surprising seeing as it was massively popular even in other countries (anyone remember Suho pointing out the main actors at an award show? Good times.)

(I haven't actually watched the show, but I do hope if it happens, they cut out the non-con scenes, yikes.)

It's interesting.

Although I think they are flirty and cute within Korea it seems as if there is a certain level of unspoken deference to hosts and older males. They'll be playful but kind of stay in lane a little more, I think? It feels to me like more of a platonic playfulness and it is accepted.

But, like, even though they bust loose esp. in the US, the weird thing is, they can hold hands and stroke each other's legs in Korea and nobody gives a toss (as it seems to be 1. common behaviour, so we're told 2. nobody can possibly be a non-straight person (it's all just skinskip acc. to fans)). But they wouldn't necessarily get away with that in the US without being beaten up by some redneck making a fuss, screaming 'faggot', or TV audiences phoning in in droves in some places. It's a weird paradox really. They have some freedom at home but not where equal rights are concerned. But they go to liberal countries and act up around randoms a bit more, but can't always express it as well.

Unless you're Jimin, who can pretty much get away with murder. laugh.png

Does that make sense?

I'm sorry for the re-edits on this, it took me a few spins to get the wording correct on how to express it. I broadly agree with the OP but I do think it's also complicated.

I totally understand what you mean about that paradox, that countries like the US are both more open in terms of LGBT rights but less comfortable with platonic skinship (and that there is definitely still homophobia), but tbh I don't really think BTS worries about that too much when they go to Western countries. If they did, I don't think we would've seen things like:

-Namjoon naming Shawn Mendes as his celebrity crush

-Jin naming Namjoon then Brad Pitt as his celebrity crush

-Jungkook naming Iron Man as his celebrity crush

-Yoongi naming that Australian interviewer as his celebrity crush

-Jimin hugging every male interviewer ever

-Jungkook holding hands with Hobi on the street in Norway

-Namjoon and Hobi holding hands on the street in Hawaii

-Jimin whispering into Jungkook's neck or whatever the frick he was doing in Malta

-All of BTS ogling that diver in Hawaii who saved Jimin's towel

-Etc.

-(There was also that time Tony from AHS talked about how he got culture shock because BTS were so touchy with each other. Oh, and I can't seem to find it now, but I swear there was some account from like the Billboards or AMAs of one member sitting on another member's lap and tickling under his chin.)

Also, this is just a sidenote, but I feel like I've heard a lot of people (especially in Asia) talk about how Americans are known to be big huggers, which--as an American--I honestly wouldn't have thought. It's kind of like when Takuya from Cross Gene was on that Abnormal Summit show, talking about how he got culture shock from all the skinship in SK after growing up in Japan. The Korean hosts were like, "Koreans do a lot of skinship? We had no idea." Idk, I would be interested to know what BTS (and others) thought about skinship in Western countries and whether that affects how they act here.

Edit: Jungkook busked in Malta, so of course, there's Jin laugh.png

That's kinda amazing, and surprising no one has posted that before since it was published in april.

Go Taehyun, I love how open he is about his mental health too. <3

Also lol at some comments being so adamant he's "just a jokester oppa likes girls" but from his coughing and the members reactions he's obviously not? This is pretty much as open as you can be in the k-industry.

Oh it has been posted before, but yeah that's about as obvious as an idol can be. Amazing how people can still deny it.

Edit: Since I'm here, I'll add Jimin continuing to have no chill

Taehyung on Vlive today (still waiting for full eng subs, but):

The lyrics (Christmas is often celebrated as a couple's holiday in Korea):

I sincerely love Adora and the song sounds lovely, but @ the producer who said it's not for two guys to sing: why can't we have nice things. Not sure if I'm projecting but Taehyung looks kind of dejected here, and the fact that he doesn't want to release the version with Adora is possibly quite telling.

It's so strange that the producer would say that. Jungkook and Namjoon covered "Fools" as a duet. Jungkook and Jimin covered "We Don't Talk Anymore" as a duet. How are we not past this? Ugh.

^^About the Vhope stuff, I'm not a shipper either, but I do remember this one interview with Jimin and Tae where Jimin said he wants to grow old with Tae, and Tae said something along the lines of, "Ehh I would pick Hoseok."

Honestly who knows why Tae made the comment about Junghope holding hands though. Sometimes members do things and it's like it's no big deal, and other times it is. Almost impossible to tell why.

I agree that there seemed to be some tension between Tae and Hoseok in the past, but thankfully it doesn't seem to be there anymore:

There are also accounts from venue staff (iirc) that Vhope tend to stick together in the waiting room. Whatever happened in the past, I don't think Hoseok is at all uncomfortable around Taehyung. He certainly doesn't have a problem with showering him with affection.

It took a while but I found the video, unfortunately there isn't any eng sub only spanish

This video at 2:50:

I'm not fluent in Korean by any means, but it's interesting that if you look at the Korean captions on the screen while he's saying that, it first says nam-chin (boyfriend), then they put a red "X" an "wrong answer" noise over it, and the next caption says, "J-Hope! Yeo. Chin. Gu. Ham." I'm not sure what the "ham" means here, but Google Translate says it means "Wanting a girlfriend." So the caption seems to be either correcting him kind of forcefully or acknowledging that he corrected himself and is separating the syllables to say it more clearly.

If there are any fluent speakers here, please correct me lol. I always thought this moment was interesting.

Edit: Lol never mind! Question answered while I was typing; thanks honeymaple. laugh.png

He was talking in general but also about them.

RM is not stupid, they give him the questions before they record the interview so he had time to think about the answer. He could have just said "when we don't have someone" or "when we don't date" but instead he chose to say "when we don't have girlfriend or boyfriend".

Furthermore Jin answered to "how do you guys deal with the girls?" "I don't have to think".

Interpret as you want, but as always one coincidence is just a coincidence, two coincidences are a clue.

"Who's your favorite actress?"

Jin: "Brad Pitt"

Namjoon: "Actress"

Jin: *nods*

It's interesting because Christianity was dumped on the west too as an incomer. Northern Europe was largely pagan, with many Celtic and tribal cultures before Christianity ground its foot onto everyone's collective head. These cultures could be quite sophisticated and scholarly for their time (i.e. the Druids), allowing men and women equal importance and roles, taking care of their disabled, and treating same sex relations as they would heterosexual ones. The Icelandic Vikings had no specific laws against homosexuality and early Romans were tolerant of it. The major prejudice in the west appears to have bitten hard with the influx of Christianity.

...which is also ironic since Jesus never said anything about homosexuality.

Aisling - Correct, Jesus never made a peep about homosexuality, and his message was that of love. Hardline Christians seem to favour the Old Testament (over the New) where their God is more of a wrathful one.

Which is doubly ironic since Jewish people (whose texts were used for the Old Testament) now tend to be much more accepting towards the LGBT community than Christianity is.

Fundamentalist Jews can be just as homophobic as their Christian or Muslim counterparts, however :

- Jewish fundamentalists don't proselytize and try to impose their views to non-Jewish people, because you're born Jewish (because you mother is Jewish), you don't convert

- Jewish fundamentalists tend to live in kinda closed communities and don't bother the rest of the world with their own views (as a result of the non-proselytizing)

- While fundamentalists exist, quite a lot of Jews are secular, and thus hold liberal views on what religion can dictate to them and society (secular people aren't necessarily non-religious themselves, but they think that it's a private matter)

Just to add to this (and sorry this is getting OT), at least in the U.S., the most common denomination is Reform, which is really liberal and (afaik) LGBT-positive.

Jinhwan isn't straight imo, I wouldn't be surprised if he and Junhoe had a FWB relationship with each other due to some of the stuff they said about each other in like 2016. Recently he also said that he has the members' nudes saved on his phone so that he can look at them whenever he wants, and Junhoe also made a joke saying that Jinhwan asked for Junhoe's nudes because "didn't you say you'll enjoy it yourself when you're alone?".

As for Hanbin, I'm like 99% convinced he has a crush on his best friend Jaewon (stage name One). There's actually a shit ton of evidence for that lmao. If you want any receipts I'll be happy to provide smile.png

Please do. dave.png

It's so fascinating how Korean media has this approach where you can make something look gay as long as you say they're straight. It's totally the opposite of how things progressed in the U.S, where the rule was, "You can say you're gay, as long as you don't act on it in public." It's interesting.
