I'm so fucking mad, I had to create an account after being a lurker here for so long.

It's not that I want him to be gay, and I will support him all the same if he is really straight but some people go too far in their defensiveness. Yes I know it's Korea and yes I know it can potentially kill his career but he is a grown ass man and a very outspoken one at that. He doesn't need his fangirls to sue people for him.

(FYI "transgender" isn't a noun, it's kinda rude to call somebody "a transgender")

Same with "a gay" too, right? At least grammar-wise it always gives the same feeling if someone said "a transgender" or "a [insert race]" or "the gays/the transgenders/the [insert plural of any race]".

 

Just to add my two cents to the "Jimin is trans" discussion, while I know that there are a couple of trans celebrities in South Korea, I don't think that any of them are in kpop boy or girl groups. Jimin I think just has some feminine proportions to him. Now if a picture of a little girl surface's saying this is Jimin of BTS or an old class mate comes forward saying they knew him before as a girl, THEN I think this theory is has some major legs to stand on, but as of right now I think Jimin is a cis man with some feminine qualities.

Wasn't there this rumor of a transgender person in a Kpop group? Not saying all rumors are true, but some do turn out to be true... With how many different possibilities that can exist, I kinda believe it's possible.

 

 

I like reading discussions about different theories, especially on possibly Trans idols. With the "queer" thing (Sorry It's like I'm bringing back the old discussion or something)--it's a slur to some people. Just like any other insult, sure some people try to reclaim said word to make it their own--but one can't just forget the fact that those words would still offend some people. Especially those who might've dealt with being called those words used as insults too. It's the same when people would/still say "Oh, that's gay" or "No homo" 'cause it associates "gay" with "bad"--and it shouldn't be.

 

To me, denying the possibility of a trans person in Kpop is like denying the possibility of gay/bisexual/asexual (etc) people being in Kpop...Like they're all a part of the LGBT+ community...

So about 2 weeks ago, I finally finished the K-drama Who Are You: School 2015 xD. And the ending was bleh and predictable imo.

Watching this drama really caused Sungjae to appear on my LGBT+-dar though haha. He had so much chemistry with like all the male characters he interacted with~ (You have no idea how much I would've loved a "Love V"; where girl likes guy 1, guy 1 likes girl, and guy 2 likes guy 1...It would've been beautiful.

I was wondering what you guys think of Kim Soohyun. For those of you who don't know he took part in a questionable underwear photoshoot predebut ( it's in this thread and the pics are pretty graphic).

Okay I'll explain why I wrote what I wrote. But stop quoting me and stop negging, that's just childish.

 

Most of the time I can tell when someone's gay, even if they haven't told me yet. It also happened many times that I thought someone looked/acted gay and they came out later.

To me Sehun doesn't look gay. But again, that is MY opinion. I may be right, or maybe not. As long as he doesn't come out we can never know for sure, that's why we also shouldnt hate on each other for our views. And keep in mind: a lot of idols are told to act a certain way. Sehun got this 'cute and innocent maknae' image pushed on him, especially during the beginning of his career.

Hello everyone,

 

I must start this post by saying that it is not only my first time posting in this particular thread but the first time I am posting on this whole site.

 

I knew about this thread, and occassionally poked my nose in, though a singers or actors sexual orientation is not something that usually interests me much. Now, obviously, my curiousity has grown enough for me to create an account, and that is for two reasons, the first being, that I am curently sick, and pretty much reduced to lying in my bed and typing away on my laptop, the second reason is Taemin.

 

Now - I believe here´s the right time to give you a bit of information so that you can, at least, have a slight idea of who it is you are writing to. I must begin this by saying that while I do know the most popular names in kpop I am not really interested in anything more than the music. Appart from Big Bang (whose new songs I enjoy) I do not really follow anyone - if a song catches my attention, I go for it, regardless what group or singer. Now, of course, I do know the big names in kpop, but even then it´s only one or two members name that have any meaning to me. I am in kpop merely for the music, but I do enjoy koreans variaty prgrams (a handful only though), so I do have a genereyl idea about a lot of the idols and actors personalities (as much of an idea as anyone can have from TV appearances anyway.).

I think it might be the mental challange some of your post provide that had my curiosity renewed. The kind of detective work is fun to witness, like a sort of puzzle. It might be the reason why I finally decited to have a go at it as well.

I am 26 years old and from Germany. The rest is pretty much useless information so I won´t bore you. I do however get the impression that most of the users who post in here seem to be in their twenties, 25 or even older, and I most certainly hope so, since it would be very weird for me to start postng here only to discover that the person behind the screen was some 16 year old.

 

Shinee is not a group I follow, but I do know the members names and some of the gossip surrounding them. However Teamin is the one who probably sparked my interest this past week, with the release of his new solo album. I knew him since last year when he had his solo debut, with Danger and everything. He had a style that looked promising to me, so I kept a bit of an eye on him, nothing much though, and appart from some of his live shwocases, I have not really been following him any more than any other singer whose songs i am interested in.

 

The reason Taemin is different, to me, is because the music he puts out is so far from what idols usually put out there, in my opinion anyways. I was anticipating this second album bcause I wanted to see if he actually did something with that potential I could feel from back then - and I was truly glad to see he had.

I enjoy Drip Drop and Press your Number. That whole album is a step in the right direction for him.

 

BUUUUUUUT - before I go anymore off topic than I already have - back to the reason for this post.

 

Teamin ------ and his sexual preference.

 

Bare in mind that I DID not know him from his debut days - I have no idea what he was like in those first years, what he behaved like, though I do have a general impression he holds with the public. I am aware that he used to be popular for his feminine looks and overall prettiness.

 

Personally, I first watched him in "Danger", and so, with my general impression and experiences with kpop idols I saw his looks in that Mv as nothing out of the ordinary. WHile he did seem a little feminine in some of the shots, the first impression I got from him was that of a straight young guy. Nothing unusual there. I got the same impression from the couple of showcases I watched back then.

 

More than anything else, I thought he was cool - an attractive dude, sure, but I was truly impressed with the skills he brought to the table, not only by his dancing skills, but also the way he carried himself on stage was something worth noting. this guy, however young, had something unique going for him, he seemed truly hard wroking for some reason, and what truly impressed me was how very different he seemed from the other idols - like he truly wanted this, you know? He had a thirst to do his own stuff.

 

Nothing changed, except that, while clicking a link, in search of some new information on his recent album, I was directed to this very page - which is prisely how I ended up stumbeling on some of the comments made about him.

And...to be absilutely honest, I will admit to being a little stunned. With Taemin being one of the very few idols I actually do bother to keep an eye on, it was only natural that my interest in him would spread out. Naturaly, I was beginning to wonder where this kid came from, where his ambitions come from, and so on.

 

Now, I finnaly began my catching up only to come up with some more than confusing things.

 

What strucked me the most though was, how very different he seems now compared to his early years. Of course being such a young boy when he debuted such a change might not come as a surprise, however, some of his behavior did seem a little odd, occassionally even out of place to me.

 

What did struck me, again, upon coming across on some of his appearances on TV shows, was the apparent lack of interest in women. Now that I had a good impression of what this guy was about, it did seem a little odd to me, that a guy of over 20 years would show so little, if barely any interest in the opposite gender at all.

It just didn´t make sense to me. I will admit - at this point I WAS curious.

 

Not only that, but he didn´t seem to behave much different when being arround guys, and even more, there seems to be this total lack of sexual energy alltogether, which I did find to be very strange to be honest.

Now, I am not one to deny the existance of Asexuality, I personally know people who consider themselves to be just that, however, this guy simply did not give me such an impression.

 

After some more research I finally did find out what it was that didn´t seem to be right with this guy. The more i watched him on shows or being intereviewed I got the impression of someone holding back a great part of their personality. And it was this holding back that I had initially confused for maybe being asexuallity - yet there is a big difference between these two, and now it seems clear as day to me.

 

Since for most of us, sexuality is a big part of ones personality, it was the lack of interest iny either men or women that I did find so odd in him. YOu would assume that someone that age would at least hint at at least one of them. But to be absolutely blank? That in itself is, in my poinion, was a very big sign.

 

Taemins apparent lack of any sexual energy at all was what was distracting me so much, only I could not vocalize it proeperly until very recently.

Just watch him interact with either male or female, and you will get the impression of an overly shy young man. He truly does seem awkward and even a bit selfconcious, but it was his constant holding back that had me more than confused. It was not until I read some more comments on this very page that I was finally able to make some sense to the puzzle this young man had posed.

 

Now I do believe him to be gay.

 

Excuse the use of my phrases here) While he still does not really ping meas gay there are now moments that do have me suspicious. I was watching some of his earliest dances as a member of shinee, and a lot of the movements there (especially in some song called "Reply" would fall under the category of diva-ish. Now, of course that in itself is not a bad thing at all, it is simply something that gay men tend to express much more than any hetero sexual guy. His feminine movements and gestures, especially the hands, which I only noticed after watching him in TV shows, and which I had first contributed to his overly shy nature were another sign. However, they were pretty much about the only bits and pieces of "evidence" I could come up with - in other segments he seemed just like any other ordinary guy, they way he sits or laughs is just like any your average teenage guy coming of age.

 

But as I already mentioned, his total lack of any attraction towards either men or women was, in my eyes, a clear indicator for his leaning towards men. A gifset finally sealed the deal for me however.

 

 

I do not know how to post it here, nor do I know what page it is at the moment, but one of you might:

 

It shows Taemin on stage, in one of Shinees concerts (as far as I remeber it was called Shinee world 3 in Shanghai), the mebers being on their way to siing on stage when from the side some dancers or staff appears to take their coats off.

And that little exchange I saw happen right there was, in that moment so shocking, for, in the first time ever, I have seen this sexual emerge from taemin, and it was aimed at a guy.

It starts with Taemin twriling an umbrella in his hand, when this guy reaches to take his coat,.....the glances and gestures that happen right there are to me the most obvious. it can´t get any clearer than that. For a guy, to hold that amount of eyecontact in itself is unusual, but if you take in consideration the way Taemin does it, he clearly flirts with this guy, it is so plain to see.

 

maybe if someone would be so kind to post that gif, I could get into some more detail. For now, I have nothing else to say.

Ahhhh - thank very much. That was the one I was talking about.(I saw it from a different angle actually, which is rather interesting)

 

Would you just look at that?

Even though it only last about five seconds there is sooo much going on!

Looking at it at first you'd easily dismiss it as fooling aLookin - chances arf, it might not have even cought your attention. And understandibly so.

Dancers are as much a part of the group as the singers themselves, especially on tour, where they rehearse, perform and work together in every way there is. Naturally, one would expect the boys from Shinee to have a good bond with mof the dancers, considering the amount of time they probably spend together. Having a good laugh together and joking around on stage is only natural.

 

However, while the moment itself may appear ordinary enough at first glance, there is a certain undertone to it that made it immediately stand out to me.

 

Watch closely; it begins harmless enough:

just as the last song ends the dancers in the coats turn up from the side to collect the Shinees members own coats and at the same time hand them over their mics. Nothing unusual about this.

 

And yet.....

 

Taemin begins this all with a little twirl of his umbrella as he walks upnto the dancer. And notice that he is smiling even as he does this. His whole aura here seems so different from what I usually saw of his timid behavior. Watch how confident he is walking up to the guy.

 

Taemin is the initiator in this , this in itself struck me as unatural.All of his actions are sexually charged.

 

It goes on with the dancer handing Taemin the microphone and proceeding to reach for the coat as well, which is where it all starts to get highly suspicious, especially to someone who knows what he/she is looking for.

 

Instead of complying like the rest of the members do, Taemin reaches over himself, in a gesture very unlike him, apparently to flatten the dancers collar. From another video that shows the same action you can actually see the dancer himself being visibly surprised by this.

For a moment Taemin fumbles a with the dancers collar before finally proceeding to take of his own.

 

And I wouldnt have said anything, had it all ended right there. Sure, I still would have wondered about this little display for the simple fact that I have never seen anything like it before from the usually highly timid Taemin. (WhyWbother to stop and fool around when there is practically no time to waste)

 

But it is the two seconds that fowonw next that had me stunned and finally convinced.

 

In the background you can see the other members doing the same with the difference that they simply give over their coats and take the mic without so much as a second glance. Their next sonh already begins playing so one will have to wonder why Taemin chose that exact moment for his little parade. You can even see Jonghyun walking past him and giving him a look.

 

But back to our main act.

 

 

Taemin finally looks up as the guy reaches for his collar, and looks him right in the eye, and he does so with an expression that can only be described as being flirty. He then turns to free his arms and again catches the dancers gaze.

 

I was too stunned for words. I could not believe what I was actually seeing in that little, tiny square inch of youtube window. For the first time since I have followed Taemins interviews and whatnot, thete was a sexual energy about him.

 

Just look how subtle the look is he is giving the dancer, notice also that he turns his head a second time, even though by now he only has his arm in the coat left. And he turns this second time, not to make sure to pull his arm out, but to look at the dancer again.

Notice the little sly smile on his face. He KNOWS what he is doing, he can see the dancer becoming flustered - and he is clearly ENJOYING every second of it.

 

And to add to that, watch his sly smile as he finally starts to walk away. He was way to pleased with himself.

 

If that was notbeniugh to convince you, I truly dont know what else will.

Not once have I seen Taemin this confident, this dominant and at ease before. In this one he really seemed much more relaxed than I have ever seen him. For the first time ever I did not have the impression that he was holding back.

 

After this little scene, I actually searched youtube for the date and said concert, it took place in shanghai somewhere arround 2014. And what I noticed right way was how unusually relaxed and at ease Taemin seemed throughout that concert.

 

 

- Why bother to flatten a dancers collar when your next song is already playing?

 

 

- why waste seconds to flatten a backup dancers collar when said backup dancer has no part in the coming song, and is simply there to recieve your own coat and hand you the mic?

 

- why even bother to something like that?

 

 

- no straight guy on this palnet will look at another guy the way Taemin was.

 

I do not want to say that there is an ultior motive that drives our every little action, but considering that this particular interaction falls in the category of human interaction, and given Taemins usually timid nature one can assume that a display like this was triggered something, however subconcious.

 

He was simoly sizing the moment, he wanted to have a little fun.

No one chooses a beard and doesn't think of possible backlash, I think.

 

Even in hetero relationships, idols have to think of the possible backlash if/when fans find out. But they must think it's worth it/or the company, at least to simmer rumors or try to convince the public that said idol is straight. So even if/when the idol got backlash...the whole point is to at least convince many people of their straightness. (Even though the person could still be bi and in an opposite-sex relationship.)

 

Sometimes it can be hard, and sometimes it can easy to get a sense if the idol and their beard even like each other, or if the beard actually even is a beard. It's not being delusional (anyone reading this) to think that not every couple in the entertainment industry are legit together because they wanna be/even actually like each other. 'Cause...well it's the entertainment industry--they show what they wanna show.

 

As for Baekyeon, I don't get why SM would push under the bus Taeyeon, their arguably most popular idol with the biggest fanbase, and Baekhyun, from a rabid group who lives on fangirls. If it was Baekhyun with anyone else, I'd see it. But Taeyeon? Why her?

Imo, it's because it was them trying to kill two birds with one stone...

 

Lots of people speculate that Taeyeon is lesbian, and many people speculate that Baekhyun's bi/pan/poly. So what could one do to quell(?) those rumors...they could pair those two up to get some fans thinking that they're both straight. (Though even again, bi people exist.)

 

I won't act like there's not a possibility that they actually were into each other, but I just personally think they were each other's beards. I can't think of any instance where Taeyeon has even seemed into a man xD. She's shown more signs of possibly being lesbian than not.

 

Baekhyun on the other hand, I could see him in an opposite-sex relationship, 'cause I think he's bi. But since he got "caught" in a relationship with Taeyeon (of all people, like you said), I don't believe their relationship was legit. And there's also the possibility of their company wanting to distract from other things.

This is all just my opinion btw. Though their relationship and GD&Kiko's have been discussed a good amount of times on this thread already xD.
