Talking about gay stuff that the members do seems to be SuJu's... thing. I mean, Heechul said he had naked pictures of him with other members on his phone, and even showed (a PG rated) one, and yet nobody in Korea was calling him gay 

Even a lot of international people were like "nah, if he was gay he'd hide it better". Why hide in the shadows when you can hide in plain sight though?

He must be gay too!" but that doesn't make any sense... The fact that he could be is proof nothing. Also, the fact that somebody else has rumors about them is irrelevant to Seungri's situation.

If SMEnt wanted to (or could, really) silence Heechul, they'd have done it a thousand times already. He gives little fuck and managed to carve himself a niche with it.

 

I think SM has probably made a compromise with Heechul or something, since he's popular enough that they don't really wanna kick him to the curb, and his antics only make him more popular... They probably let him act as gay as he wants, but he has to tolerate all the straightsplaining 

 

 

I know this hasn't been talked about at all in this thread (people just mostly say gay, bi, or straight), but isn't it possible that some of these idols are pansexual ? I really do believe that Heechul. its like he doesn't give a flying fuck about the gender of a person. I think that's why he can look so into girls one day and then be all over a guy the next.

 

I still would be extremely shocked if he had any sexual interest in women whatsoever. Everything about him screams gay, even from the first time I laid eyes on him. He's one of those ultra obvious people, and it doesn't help that he's overly honest with his behavior. I don't know why people keep saying he looks really into girls, when all I ever see from him is poorly feigned interest, or poorly disguised disinterest...

True, but for some it lasts very long indeed. Heechul, for one, is thirty. Though he, like Jaejoong, seems almost openly gay by now. ;) And I do think there are those who might find it too tiring to 'play straight' for an extended period and so leave the spotlight by simply not being quite motivated enough to stay in it. It only takes one or two to make a group disintegrate, and groups can't always reinvent themselves. So, I guess we don't really know how many idols that have disappeared have actually done so more or less on purpose rather than due to market disinterest. It takes a lot of dedication and focus to stay relevant in such a competitive market.

 

I think Heechul and Jaejoong are both purposely creating glass closets for themselves these days. I kinda suspect Key was trying to do the same, but either he chickened out or SM caught on and went on super duper damage control @_@

I think the benefit of having a glass closet is that if most people already suspect that you might be gay, there won't be as much surprise or backlash if you ever do decide to come out... Anyway, I'm pretty sure that's what Jaejoong's thinking. Not entirely sure what's going on in Heechul's mind, I think maybe part of him really just doesn't give a fuck XD

I didn't say 'out'. I said 'relaxed', as in not being dependent on actively playing straight for your livelihood and not risking the livelihood of your friends and co-workers just by, say, living with someone of the same sex. Let's face it, rumours fly farther and grow larger when celebrities are involved. But I definitely see your point. For one thing, I still believe many current k-pop idols entered the business because it's easier being gay in that context. There are just aspects that may get too tiring after a while.

 

There's definitely an unspoken (or possible spoken lol) rule among the entertainment industry that they don't reveal information about others that's too personal. There's not a lot of privacy in that lifestyle, so everybody ends up knowing a lot of each other's secrets. Things like being gay, or being in relationships in general, would definitely be a big no-no to tell about. I could definitely see that kind of coworker bond being appealing. Unlike a regular job where your boss could fire you if they found out, you'd only have to worry about the general public finding out...

In my experience I've never seen a man who fit perfectly into a gay stereotype (and wasn't acting) who wasn't gay. Maybe there are exceptions around, but I certainly haven't encountered any 

 

As for Kame, he gives off one of the strongest gay vibes ever I swear. It's really intense XD

 

I feel like Koki is probably bi. He seems to be actively interested in both at least, and while my bi-dar isn't exactly running at optimum efficiency, he does give off that vibe lol

 

Akanishi strikes me as straight as an arrow. I really don't see him being bi or anything.

 

As for the other two, they strike me a bit as straight, but I don't really have any strong feelings one way or the other
