milk-caramel 2,526
I found out about Myungjong in this thread, and at first i was like whuuut but now i totally ship them^^ Omg bless. Their relationship is so beautiful This is old but I searched and didn't see it discussed here. Did anyone watch the Cross Gene episode for ASC? I know some people suspect Takuya because of his role in The Lover (I'm more leaning ally, but whatever) but really this entire group pings to high heaven. Anyway, there was one part of the episode that pissed me off a little. They had a segment where they had each member say something secret about one of the other members before the show and then the members had to pick who had said which messages as well as who they were about. At around 21:25 in the video, the secret message is "he is very good at girl group dances!" The message was about Takuya but it took a while for them to guess that, I guess they're all pretty good at them, but anyway, Takuya proceeded to do a dance as Jimin cracked up in the back. She then said that she had seen him in a commercial which "had not been his image," (she was talking about The Lover, I assume). Takuya then outright says he doesn't like guys and that people asume he is gay because of the drama, and then Kevin very uncomfortably tells everyone to move on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWGuMf4tSFU Kevin's subtlety issues aside, what was the deal with Jimin there? Do many people in Korea really think someone is gay just because they play a gay character in a drama? I really hope that doesn't come to define Takuya's career. I did see that episode and while I do have an inclination to think Takuya might be gay, I think Jimin handled it in a totally inappropriate fashion. This is Korea, realistically even if he was gay he wouldn't say "Oh yeah, I really do like boys. Gee Jimin, thanks I've been meaning to mention that". Like... no. The same thing happened with Hoya when he took on the Reply 1997 role, which was arguably even more subtle than Takuya's because the whole time it was onesided and then had an open, unconfirmed ending. But then people (mostly other celebrities from what I heard) harassed him so much that he felt legitimately uncomfortable. Their personal preferences aside whatever they may be, these actors and idols are going to be scared to take on these roles if people keeping digging into their personal lives every time they do.
milk-caramel 2,526
I think she's just an extremely awkward person and she didn't actually intend to make him feel put on the spot. Most of the things she says come off as weird and unnatural, especially when she's trying to be funny or clever. She's a cute kid, but I honestly have no idea why she's hosting that show when she clearly doesn't have the skills for it. I know she also put Eric on the spot about not being married yet - although it was obviously done in a joking manner. I agree with you though, to host these kinds of shows it's best to have a level of social awareness or sensitivity that I'm not sure she has. At least not yet. It's just when dealing with people's personal lives like that it's best not to overstep I think?
