Why would SM bother with TaoHun though? You really think TaoHun would appeal to Koreans? Koreans don't understand Tao at the best of times, let alone why their angel boy Sehun would want to spend so much time with Tao. Tao isn't "good-looking" enough to be a popular ship with Sehun, in the typical Korean and Chinese fan's mind. Even if Sehun finds Tao so sexy and hot in reality - but shippers don't care what their idol thinks. Only who looks good together. Especially Chinese and Korean HunHan shippers.

 

What? Sehun isn't put on any pedestal by Korean fans so whether Tao was good-looking enough for him probably doesn't matter to most since they hardly pay Sehun much attention to begin with. The only Chinese fans that have a problem with Taohun are hardcore Hunhan shippers and that's a minority considering Tao has one of the biggest Chinese fanbases.

 

I don't think SM is pushing them at all but I think there is definitely a market for them if they're actively pushed and they're looking to make a new pairing happen. Hunhan is dead everywhere but China (they're still in the MAMA era in almost every aspect), Baekyeol is dry, and Taoris is still a mainstay (especially in variety) but not as intense as it used to be. So I can see Taohun becoming a bigger deal in the future, especially because it reinforces the whole "we are one" shtick when you have the two maknaes from each sub group of different nationalities being the bffs of EXO. Can't say that it wouldn't make for a good storyline (even if it's actually true).

Actually Tao does have his 'feminine mannerisms' moments. I'm fairly sure I've seen more of them from him than Sehun on Showtime tbh.

 

Well I don't know if Showtime is the best way to judge since Sehun doesn't have anywhere near as much screentime as Tao on the show (or ever really) so I think it's always easier to pick up on Tao if you look at shows since he gets alot of attention in them whereas Sehun doesn't. If you go based on fancams, I'd say Sehun lets it out pretty often. But I agree they both have their moments.

Tao browses Weibo all the time on his own. Chinese fans are aware of this. Tao looks himself (and Sehun) up all the time. If it was an accident he would have needed to say that his finger slipped. And these are only the times that he was caught.

 

Obviously he browses on his own but there are also alot of times where fans will send him alot of things in the comments section (which he reads often), some of them happen to be inappropriate or shipping related. I don't doubt he's looked himself up or Sehun or other members, just that it's also highly likely some things were sent to him as well or he ran across them as he was searching himself. Like I said the first two seemed on purpose, but the fanfic was most likely a finger slip which is possible. He could have looked up taohun, but I doubt he was trying to read fanfics about them.

It's not about discrediting them, it's about being realistic about them because people get so carried away about them in here. I don't know how many times I have to say that I think both of them are gay and that there is a high chance they're into each other given how they are around each other so no I don't discredit them. But I'm also not going to jump to all these conclusions about "their love" and how strong their relationship is etc based on certain events. People are allowed to believe what they want but I just think people can take it down a notch when it comes to them and not see things through their shipper eyes all the time. I'm really not here for them to be treated like the next Yunjae.

I don't have a problem. I think the likelihood of them being a legitimate couple at this stage is slim and while there is alot of evidence to suggest that they're attracted to each other and obviously close, there isn't enough to say they're dating. Alot of the "evidence" people use to say they're definitely a couple is stuff that can be explained, things that can happen between really close friends so I feel alot of people just jump the gun and come up with alot of assumption with them and run with it. Given how popular the ship is getting, stuff like that can get really annoying really quick.

 

 

But that's the only thing you ever post about in here... you just come across like a wet blanket a lot of the time. If you posted about other things, ok. But it's like it's your mission to contradict everything about TaoHun. It's like they could be having sex right in front on of you and you'd find an excuse for it.

 

A lot of people can see something suspicious with TaoHun though. It's not jumping to conclusions. It's accepting that occasionally idols are gay and will fall in love. Not too uncommon. And I have never shipped anyone before. I saw they were obviously dating first from a video in here, and then it went from there. I don't have to ship them because they ship themselves.

 

I don't know why it's so hard to believe that they are dating when they are basically acting like boyfriends. But ok.

 

Erm, no that's not the only thing I post about. I mainly post about Taohun and EXO, yes, because they're the most talked about in here and they're the only ones that I really follow of the main idols that are discussed here so I chime in when I feel like it. It's not some mission to contradict everything about Taohun, but like I said people get carried away with them and that's when sometimes I want to comment to bring another perspective instead of everyone being like "omgzthey'reinLOVE" all the time. I mean, if everyone is just spazzing, it wouldn't be much of a discussion would it? Sometimes it's nice to think of some other alternatives, it's what makes discussions interesting and you can gain new perspectives from it. I know having posted in this thread since May, some of my perspectives on certain things have changed, including Taohun, based on the discussions here.

 

Honestly, what you're accusing me of is no different than how you always post about how in love they are or how great their relationship is. We just disagree on certain things about them. If I seem like a debbie downer to you in regards to them, that's not my intention. I'm just being as realistic as possible when it comes to them. You are definitely free to disagree and believe in them as a couple.

I know enough about them to know their status so I don't really need another perspective, thanks. I think it's not realistic to think that every ship is real. But occasionally some will fall in love, yes. I post about TaoHun in here so others can enjoy their relationship, not for you to nitpick all the time. So please maybe you shouldn't respond to my posts anymore (since that's the only time you'd ever talk in this thread, to disagree with me.) So I'm requesting that you don't do that.

 

I just don't know why YunJae was a legitimate couple and TaoHun aren't. I'm still waiting for the TaoHun sex tape to come out meanwhile...

 

Nah, I've disagreed with you before but your posts are hardly the reason I post in this thread or the only one I reply to. I'm fairly certain I've had lengthy discussions with many in this thread, both with agreeable and disagreeable views so don't consider yourself all that important.

 

But if you only feel like posting about Taohun's great love with no one refuting or challenging your arguments, it's probably best you stay in the shipper thread where people will appreciate it more. This isn't the thread for it.

The discussions in general and EXO are the main reason I post in this thread, not you. You just happen to post mainly about Taohun and alot of them are so...exaggerated to say the least. Some of you are being so ridiculous right now. I’m all for shipping (clearly), but you shouldn't be attacking Lovergurl just because she doesn't think Taohun are boning each other every night. Listen, as much as shipping can be fun, it is not an established fact that Taohun are in a relationship and some of you should really stop acting like it is. I don't follow EXO so I don't have an opinion either way, but not even I act like it's a fact that Myungsoo and Sungjong are dating and I'm one of the biggest Myungjong shippers out there. Some of you have resorted to saying some really shitty things and frankly I think you need to stop.

 

What's really funny about all this is that if Taohun were ever confirmed to be real, I'd probably be the first one jumping for joy and hoping to get an invite to their wedding   I'd love nothing more than for them (and Myungjong) to be real and have some grand love story to go with it but I just don't think it's at that level yet. Sue me.

None of the members have given me the indication that they're gay, they all seem fairly into women given their interactions with them and they do have alot of that compared to other boy groups so I think it's easier to tell with them. I know N gets thrown out there sometimes and I can understand why, he can fit certain stereotypes well but he seems genuinely interested in women when he's around them and with men, he doesn't seem particularly into them in a sexual way. He can just be sassy sometimes but in terms of genuine attraction, I think he's into women. Who knows though, he could be bi.

I meant interested as in attracted to them. He seemed like he was attracted to some of the females he's interacted with, not all but some. He can be pretty flirtatious with them and then there's other he didn't seem to care that much for.

I use it half-jokingly if I'm mildly annoyed, like "bitch please" and stuff, but never with a purely positive connotation. I just don't see the need to try to use bad words in good ways when we already have good words that work perfectly fine.

Well there are certain terms that had negative connotation associated with it but have become so widely used in a more positive way that most just don't see it as offensive anymore (given the intention behind it of course). Personally, I think that's nice...to turn something negative into positive. 

 

No. I have never felt the need to say that. I suspect it comes from our different social circles. Also, if I were more active in gay culture(whatever that is) then I might be more apt to using those terms.

 

Well, it's not really a gay culture thing. It's more of a younger generation thing. Having experienced different social circles, many use terms like that on the regular because it's socially acceptable now, gay or not.

Doesn't mean it's wrong either. If the individual doesn't find it offensive, then I don't think there is anything wrong with it...that's what matters in the first place. It all depends on how you see it I guess. The offensiveness of certain terms is subjective.

 

It's like impossible for "bitch" to ever have a positive connotation because the word per se is always derogating. "Queer", on the other hand, has the original meaning of "eccentric" or "unconventional" so I guess some people like being called "queer" if they enjoy the air of esotericism. 

 

Eh, to me it's all about the intention behind it. You can change the meaning of a word through time anyways, it doesn't have to stay a derogatory term. It happens all the time in language.

The intention can't justify the word choice. Good intention but wrong word choice leading to an inadvertent offense is as culpable as deliberate offense. I find it being used as an excuse for the refusal to take responsibility for your own words rather laughable. Besides, how can we always interpret the intention of the derogatory word as exactly what the speaker has in his/her mind? 

 

But if you know the person you're saying it to does not take offense to it or does not view it negatively, then how is it considered offensive? Whether someone views certain words (like bitch, queer, and fag) offensively is subjective, thus whether the word is actually offensive is subjective because everyone doesn't take certain words to mean in the literal definition. Certain words take up different meanings along the way in society.

 

You can't always interpret it but you can the majority of the time. Plus like I said, alot of the time it really depends on the context of which the word is said and by whom. Most people know when to say certain things and when not to and who they can say it to.
